14.01.2022 Coronavirus and ComputerPals Newcastle The situation with COVID-19 in Australia is changing daily and in view of the latest restrictions ComputerPals Newcastle is taking steps to protect our senior members. Social distancing is recommended and is extremely important for seniors. Therefore, all ComputerPals activities will be suspended until the end of April. Please note: If you have paid for lessons occurring during the next four weeks - to end of Term One - you will be given a credit towards future classes or, if you prefer, a refund.

12.01.2022 DOORKNOCKING SCAM ALERT I have received a few messages about suspicious doorknockers who have been targeting the Cardiff, Wallsend and surrounding suburbs in... the last 24 hours. They claim to be collecting money for local Breast Cancer support services. Our local Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation doesn’t raise funds by approaching individuals in their homes and does not authorise volunteers to door knock on their behalf. It's a good reminder to be wary of anyone knocking on your do and asking for money or credit card details. If you feel unsafe or are suspicious of anyone knocking on your door and posing as a charity worker, please contact NSW Police Force immediately on 131 444. Let me know if your suburb is being targeted so we can build a list

09.01.2022 All Special interest group activities in the clubroom have been suspended due to the Covid-19 situation until further notice. That is not to say you cannot engage in activities in these Special Interest Groups from home. Communicate with us by email at [email protected] and share with the other members. We are able to convene a virtual meeting using Zoom and invite the members to participate, have a coffee/tea, have a chat, and stay in contact with each other. It’s ...easy to join don’t be frightened if you have a concern about how to do it phone 4961 6576 and leave your name, number and your concern and we’ll get back to you, alternatively send us an email and we’ll phone you back and talk you through the issue. Okay we have to be safe by ‘social distancing’ but that doesn’t mean we can’t meet in the virtual world and stay connected. We can help one another and ensure loneliness or isolation doesn’t become a problem. See more

06.01.2022 If you see me wearing a mask in public and in the stores, I want you to know that... I'm educated enough to know that I could be asymptomatic and still give you the virus. No, I don't "live in fear" of the virus; I just want to be part of the solution, not the problem. I don't feel like the "government controls me". I feel like I'm an adult contributing to security in our society and I want to teach others the same. If we could all live with the consideration of other...s in mind, the whole world would be a much better place. Wearing a mask doesn't make me weak, scared, stupid or even "controlled". It makes me caring. When you think about your appearance, discomfort, or other people's opinion of you, imagine a loved one - a child, father, mother, grandparent, aunt, uncle or even a stranger - placed on a ventilator, alone without you or any family member who is allowed at his bedside. Ask yourself if you could have helped them a little while wearing a mask. Copied and posted. Will you do the same? Be safe people

05.01.2022 21 members ventured to Savannah’s Cafe and then on to the Morpeth Museum on Saturday 8/3. Great company and an excellent day out.
