25.01.2022 MAKING FRIENDS & MEMORIES! When I think back to my own dance classes growing up, my fondest memories are the friends I made. Friends that to this day, are some of the people closest to me. We were passionate about the same things, worked hard in our teams and my teacher always encouraged us to have fun together while working hard! This is something we strive to incorporate into Con Academy classes across all year levels. 22.01.2022 Bachelor of Music Commercial Ensembles started out the year preparing for a Stax label / Memphis Soul Concert with heaps of well-known hits. 08.01.2022 Class update! All students have been working hard developing their skills over the first couple of weeks of term. Before we begin our concert items, we are working on lots of different aspects of our performance.... Students have been working hard on dance technique, flexibility and combinations; singing technique and aural music skills; acting skills including improvisation, script reading, character development and voice projection! Pictured we have students working on some devised scenes (they make them up!) and our juniors reading through a fractured fairytale script! Well done everybody!

05.01.2022 Live On Your Lounge With John Morrison - presented by CQUniversity -TONIGHT! This may be of interest to those who enjoy Friday Night jazz at the Con. This online jazz event features David Reaston (Mackay CQCM), Kristen Berardi and Jacki Cooper, as well as a host of other great Australian jazz performers, many of whom have visited Mackay over the years. It will be performed live on Friday 8th May starting at 7.00pm.

03.01.2022 That's a wrap! That's a wrap on Conservatorium Academy for 2020. What a crazy year it has been. On Saturday we had our annual performance - although this year it looked a little different thanks to COVID. A global pandemic couldn't stop our students from putting their best foot forward. Mini Music Theatre, Junior Music Theatre and Intermediate Music Theatre all showcased what they have learnt this year, culminating in a performance piece from a range of musicals. Seni...or Music Theatre A & B learnt a series of scripts in small groups and both classes learnt an excerpt of a musical dance as well. This was a ginormous challenge after a term off, but our students rose to the occasion. I am so proud to be their teacher and work with them each and every week. This year more than ever, our students have demonstrated commitment, resilience and growth. A challenging year across the board for them and they have come out the other side still shining. Some words of thanks: Jason - for filming each piece for our families and taking some photos for us. It was so important for us to still capture to occasion. Simon - our amazing tech for setting the lights ready for our students to feel like superstars when they arrived. Montana & Kim - for all of the admin work behind the scenes. We appreciate everything you do. Our families - for sticking by us, even in these challenging times. We are very humbled to have so many families continue to support our program each and every year. Miss Kaitlyn - for jumping in and helping our senior groups in the last couple of weeks and being an extra pair of hands. The kids love you and were so excited to see you back! Thank you, thank you! We are now heading into planning mode for 2021. Current families, keep an eye on your emails for first preference enrollment for next year!
