23.01.2022 Pretty excited to have been part of @msjenniferrobertson infertility unfiltered YouTube channel! It will air this Friday. For anyone struggling with fertility I believe a support network is super important. Often it’s the continuous pressure we put on ourselves to conceive and the stress it leads to, that hinders fertility the most. With the right treatment and support you can once again enjoy the process. Jen is wonderful with what she does with women on their journey and has been through an incredible journey herself! I was privileged enough to chat to Jen and share some easy take home Chinese medicine tips that you can do to help relieve stress. #fertility #fertilityjourney #stressandfertility #support #acupuncture #chinesemedicine #naturalmedicine
21.01.2022 Are you in the midst of your fertility journey? Sick of people saying ‘relax don’t think about it?’ Well I’m excited to announce that I have collaborated with @msjenniferrobertson and @sage_naturopathics to bring you a Calm Fertility Workshop. We’ve all been there before, had trouble with fertility and are now mums that work with women on their journey. This workshop will give you tools to take home in those stressful times- hoping your next period won’t come! Or waiting for ...the results of your blood test, trying not to do another pregnancy test, analyzing every symptom. We will explain how stress effects your body and fertility, what you can do to make this journey calmer and ease that stress as well as connect with other women that understand what you are going through. . . . Join us at the beautiful@the_sacred_space in Currumbin on Thursday 2nd of April from 6-8pm. Link for bookings is in my bio. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and share the event with anyone who may be interested. #fertility #fertilityjourney #empowered #connection #stressmanagement #calm #acupuncture #naturopathy #fertilitysupport See more
20.01.2022 On Tuesday the 4th of August we welcomed our beautiful little boy Sage Rick Mitchell into the world. We are enjoying our new born love bubble and Van is a doting big brother
19.01.2022 Today we are re growing at home. Van learnt this at kindy and reminded me. We have been buying so many seedlings making a fully edible garden I actually forgot about re growing from the produce we grow or even from what I had bought. Today we have got bok choy, celery, basil, beetroot, pineapple and passionfruit. You really don’t need much room to grow your own food, as well as being so nice eating from your own backyard it saves you money too. #homegrown #ediblegarden
19.01.2022 The very best delivery to receive postpartum thank you @yogitreeweb . . I highly recommend doing placenta encapsulation. It is a wonderful way to build blood postpartum and aid the recovery from birth. It is however important not to start them till the main blood flow has eased which is different for everyone and every birth. The placenta capsules build our blood and whilst we are still expelling blood we don’t tonify as this can lead to stagnation instead. .... . I also was lucky enough to receive an amazing bath soak which felt incredible to do on day 3 when my milk came in. I’m also using the @yogitreeweb soothing balm for my nipples, easing back into breastfeeding. . . As part of my postpartum care I have also started to moxa my lower abdomen, this is called mother warming. It helps the reproductive organs go back into place following pregnancy and birth. If birth was done via cesarean we do extra work on the scar to encourage blood flow as often the scar tissue can cause problems later on. . . Postnatal care is extremely important in traditional Chinese medicine not only for your health and recovery in those early months but your long term vitality and general health and wellness in the years to come. #traditionalchinesemedicine #tcm #postnatal #postnatalcare #postpartum #birthandrecovery #placentaencapsulation #motherwarming See more
19.01.2022 This was me 3 years ago breastfeeding my little boy. I wanted to share for world breastfeeding week #wbw2020 as I’m passionate about breastfeeding and the benefits not only to the child but mother as well. . . Did you know that when your baby attaches to your nipple it sends a message to your brain letting you know exactly what your baby needs. Breast milk not only supplies your baby with food and nutrition, it is medicine when they are sick, pain relief, emotional support, ...connection and security, it therefore can be more demanding on mum. it takes 25-30% more energy to make milk and usually means more feeds through night and day, your hormones however whilst breastfeeding make you able to cope better with less sleep and help your body slowly return back to pre pregnancy. It amazes me how incredible woman’s body is! . . If you would like to breastfeed but are having problems there are so many great support groups now. I highly recommend @_kerrie_adams lactation consultant and midwife and @ozbreastfeeding the Australian breastfeeding association a free service, my mother was a Counsellor with them back when I was a child! . . There are also women that choose not to breastfeed and that is totally fine as well, we all parent our children different and should not be judged on our decisions. We have the right to choose what is best for us, our children and our individual family’s needs. #breastfeedingweek See more
17.01.2022 Below is listed a healthy and ‘normal’ period: Cycle length: The period should happen every 27- 30 days, on a regular basis. Flow: Approximately 3-5 pads or tam...pons per day is considered a normal flow. Any more than this is classified as a heavy period. Colour: A normal period colour is bright red without any clots. Pain: There should be none associated with your period. Our Life Synergy clinic in Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast treats the entire body, rather than just the symptoms. 10.01.2022 Loving my new purchase! And highly recommend for anyone who is pregnant. I’ll be sharing with any of my pregnant clients once back at work. . . There is so much information and emphasis on pregnancy and babies, however once baby is born often the mothers are forgotten about or expected to ‘bounce back’ without acknowledging what the body has just done and how very different your life has become. I feel in our society there is a lack of information on what to do in order for... you to heal, physically and emotionally. The women’s body is absolutely incredible, making a baby and birthing, then feeding, giving your baby life and 24/7 care. This isn’t an easy feat and proper care should be taken to recover from this. . . Most cultures around the world including Chinese Medicine/ acupuncture believe special care should be taken of the mother for the 40days following birth in order to restore health and vitality not just for the months proceeding but long term. #postnatalcare #postpartum #fortydays #goldenmonth #pregnancy #thefirstfortydays See more
10.01.2022 Unfortunately we are saddened to say that due to the request by the government to cancel any ‘non essential gatherings’ with the current status of the Corona Virus, we have decided to postpone our ‘Calm Fertility Workshop’. We will still be holding the event at a future date so stayed posted! Any questions please feel free to contact me directly. @msjenniferrobertson @sage_naturopathics

07.01.2022 I remember posting after I had Van how impressed we were with the GCUH birth center (midwifery care program) now living in NSW we went through the Murwillumbah midwifery care program and once again I highly recommend! This free service the government provide really is so wonderful. You are assigned your own midwife throughout the pregnancy and up until 4weeks postpartum. If it is their day off they have a small team or partner available so 24/7 they are available for you to a...ddress any concerns. Majority of appointments are all in the comfort of your own home. They get to really know you, your body, your baby and your preferences. There has been research done that showed the importance and benefits of having continuity of care throughout pregnancy affecting positive birth outcomes. This system adds a primary caregiver to support you throughout your journey and must importantly post birth. I know many clients that have felt after birth they are left on their own whilst with a midwifery care program you have that 24/7 care available when you need it most, especially first time parents. We also had a student midwife with both births and I also highly recommend as it is another person you have available to you to help you feel safe and comfortable. To top it off, Nsw health even gave us this bag of goodies to take home! Thank you @newsouthwaleshealth #midwiferycare #midwives #suppprt #pregnancycare #postpartumcare See more

05.01.2022 Did you know that breastfeeding requires 25-30% more energy and actually producing milk takes more energy then any other form of reproduction! As part of birth prep and postpartum care I always talk about nourishing blood and qi building foods, soups, broths and slow cooks however today I did some baking for those much needed snacks. Often when breastfeeding you will feel so hungry but with a little one on you it’s hard to make a meal or even heat up a dish so these snacks ar...e great to have on hand, healthy and tasty and support that much needed energy production. Research has also shown that good nutrition during pregnancy and post birth can be beneficial to mental health therefore helping decrease chances of postnatal depression. Today I made sesame snaps as sesame seeds are high in zinc. Our placenta is high in zinc so following birth our zinc can become low which can also lead to anxieties and depression. In Chinese medicine black sesame seeds are specially good for our liver and kidney yin, blood and essence. I also made an oat slice with dried fruits, honey and butter. This helps build our qi and blood as well. It’s important to have good quality fats and carbohydrates in our diet for energy production. As well as dietary therapy I take placenta capsules postnatally to help the body recover from birth, our placenta is so high in nutrients and an excellent way to build yourself back up after birth. I used @yogitreeweb for my son and will again for this birth #postpartum #postnatalcare #foodismedicine #tcm #breastfeeding #naturalmedicine #birthprep @danibonnor
04.01.2022 As I finish my last day of work, I’m preparing for birth and beyond. I speak a lot about birth prep through pregnancy, However it is more then just preparing for the marathon that labor is. We prepare emotionally, physically and mentally and build the connection between mother and baby as this process involves both. Our bodies as women are designed to birth, we just need to give it the right tools to do so. Often we can get so distracted with the ‘things’ and ‘stuff’ we need... to do but all our babies really need is us. We supply them with life, with nourishment, with safety and connection to adapt to this new life. This time around birth prep is different for me as I already have a 4 year old at home so my preparations include making him feel prepared, involved and ready for this transition. Birthing a baby, having a new soul join your family is life changing and can be emotionally shocking. Being as prepared as we can and connected to this soul before it comes Earth side allows for the smoothest transition possible. . . I highly recommend this book ‘the golden month’ for any pregnant women. It acknowledges how incredible the woman’s body is to make a baby and how we need to give it the respect to recover postnatally. Often this is missed in western culture but practiced in many other cultures around the world. . . It is with mixed emotions as I finish today, I love what I do, all of my beautiful clients, the relationship we form, I will miss not working with them. I will look forward to seeing you all again soon and would still love updates on each of your journeys. I am also feeling very ready to go inward and prepare with my family for our next chapter and newest member to arrive. Although I may not be very present on social media during this time I will be sure to let you know when baby arrives. #pregnancy #birthing #maternityleave #lovemywork #acupuncture #thegoldenmonth #birthprep See more
02.01.2022 Post-partum care Tips for new mothers: As a new mother it is important to learn how to trust your instincts and focus on what works for both you and your baby. ...At first, try to do nothing but sleep, relax and breastfeed. It is very important to try and sleep when your baby is sleeping as many babies (especially in the first 3 weeks) are awake at night and asleep in the day. Remember your body has been through major changes, so don’t exert yourself or try anything too strenuous. Instead be gentle and kind on yourself and your body- just as careful as you were in your first trimester. Relax into the new chapter and do your best to enjoy your newborn at every stage as they are forever changing and growing! In many Asian cultures, there is a tradition where women stay home for one month after giving birth. During this time women are encouraged to stay warm, avoid cold foods and not physically exert themselves. This period is so the mother purely focused on nursing their newborn and regaining their strength and vitality. Learn more: www.lifesynergy.com.au//pregnancy-gold-c/post-partum-care/

01.01.2022 What are you doing for yourself? As parents with children at home and restrictions on what we can and can’t do there’s not much time or space for self care. Juggling what work you can do between parents and full time parenting can be exhausting, your needs can be put aside as well as the financial burden you may not be able to do the things you used to do for yourself. . . Remember your needs are a priority. Why not work on a roster system so each family member gets some ‘me... time’ and use that time to connect in nature, breath, sit still and be present. . . I know as a mum its easy to fill any spare minute with chores, work then when your not doing that it’s full time play at the moment. I’ve definitely felt myself become snappy and shorter tempered then I’d like. So your not along, we all have these moments. It’s just about recognizing them and then making a change. I’m definitely a calmer more present mumma if I get a bit of yoga in and some sun and salt water. #selfcare #lookafteryourself #askforhelp #listentoyourbody
