19.01.2022 Anyone can be infected with COVID-19, but older people, especially those with pre-existing medical conditions like asthma, diabetes, heart disease, are more vul...nerable and may become very ill. Heres some tips for older South Australians on how to stay well during COVID-19: Make sure any medical conditions are managed or under control so you are as healthy as possible. Talk to your GP about how you can do this. Make sure you receive your pneumococcal vaccine and influenza vaccine (free for people aged 65 years and over) to ensure you stay healthy throughout the winter period. The healthier you are, the better you can fight off COVID-19. Follow good hygiene practices (wash hands often, wipe down frequently touched surfaces, cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue). Practice social distancing if you have a medical condition that makes you more vulnerable, like asthma, diabetes, heart disease or lung disease. That means staying 1.5m away from other sick people, especially those who have respiratory infections. You only need to self-isolate if you have returned from overseas or have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19. Ask a friend or family member to deliver your shopping for you. Stay in touch and communicate with friends and family by writing a letter, email or give them a call or Skype. For more info: www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/COVID2019

14.01.2022 Some restrictions are easing in South Australia, but these important things remain the same: Keep 1.5 metres distance from others. 1 person per 4 square met...res. Keep working from home (if possible). Gatherings should be 10 or less people. We dont want any new cases in South Australia, so its really important that we dont become complacent. Lets not undo all the good, so we can continue our roadmap for easing restrictions. Remember: If you have COVID-19 symptoms, seek testing and stay home until you are well. Wash hands often, wipe frequently touched surfaces, cover coughs and sneezes. Vulnerable people like the elderly and people with chronic health conditions should talk to their doctor about what is appropriate for them.

14.01.2022 Its important to keep active and stay healthy during these challenging times. There are plenty of exercise options you can do at home! Here are some ideas from Heart Foundation.

11.01.2022 Have you been in Victoria in the past 14 days? [GET TESTED] Get tested if you have any symptoms, even if mild, or if you have been in contact with someon...e with symptoms. You can also get tested even if you dont have any symptoms, if you are concerned. Find where to get tested: https://bit.ly/2ZPth5A [SELF-QUARANTINE] You must self-quarantine for 14 days. If you live with other people, you must stay in your own dedicated room and avoid contact with others (unless they are also quarantining with you, or you need to care for them, or they care for you). Otherwise, you may need to make arrangements for yourself, or other household members, to stay somewhere else to ensure you can quarantine safely. You must stay in self-quarantine for the full 14 days, even if you test negative. These measures are essential to protect our community and reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. 08.01.2022 South Australias border restrictions remain in place for NSW and the ACT, and will not be eased on July 20 as previously announced. A significant COVID-19 outb...reak at the Cross Roads Hotel on the Hume Highway in NSW is of great concern and we are closely monitoring the situation. People entering from NSW and ACT may still travel to South Australia, but are subject to 14 days quarantine upon their arrival and are required to complete a cross border pre-approval form. We understand this decision will be difficult for those with family and loved ones living in NSW or the ACT. We will continue to keep people informed about these border restrictions.

07.01.2022 The soap you use does not have to be antibacterial. Regular soap will protect you if you wash your hands properly. COVID-19, like many other viruses, is he...ld together by a lipid (fatty) membrane. Washing with soap will remove the fat that sits around the virus particles and destroy it. How to wash your hands properly: Use soap and running water wet hands thoroughly and lather with soap (any soap!) rub hands together for 20 seconds as you wash them, creating a good lather pay attention to the backs of hands, wrists, between fingers and under fingernails rinse hands well under running water dry hands with a single use disposable paper towel or a clean towel. *When you cannot access soap and water, or your hands arent visibly soiled, you can use alcohol based sanitiser.
