25.01.2022 The Concord West Public School P&C will hold its Annual General Meeting on Thursday, the 5th of July at 7pm in the staff room. Thats the night *after* the Strings Gala. At the AGM we will be electing office-holders for 2018/19, including the positions of President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary. Any member of the Parents & Citizens committee is welcome to stand for any position, and you can join the P&C on the night. Joining the P&C is a great way to get more invol...ved in your childs school life and the school community. Even if you cant come along to all the meetings, there are still a lot of ways to be part of the P&C. If youre interested, contact the Secretary on [email protected]

Sausages are $2 an...d all funds raised will go to air-conditioning for the school. Sausages will be halal. Please comment here if you're interested in a chicken or vegetarian option. 13.01.2022 PROPOSAL TO SPEND P&C FUNDS ON SOLAR PANELS At the meeting on Wednesday 4 April the following motion is to be considered and voted on. If you wish to speak either for or against the proposal, please attend the meeting and let your views be known. MOTION... That the P&C should contribute $15,000 towards the purchase of solar panels to be installed on the school, with funds raised from a combination of grants and community fundraising efforts. EXPLANATION The P&C proposes to install a system of solar panels and battery storage at the school. The primary aim of this is to reduce the schools energy costs, and to that end it is estimated that a solar electricity generation system could save the school $11,000 per year. There is in addition the possibility that surplus electricity generated during the summer when the school is closed could be sold back to the grid, providing additional income. The money saved on the schools energy budget could then allow for air-conditioning systems to be installed in classrooms that presently lack air-conditioning, creating a more comfortable learning environment for students on very hot days. The purchase of air conditioning systems will be a future fundraising priority. The secondary aim of the solar panel and battery installation is to provide an opportunity to teach the students about renewable energy in a practical and observable way. The school has agreed to provide half of the funds for the installation, and $15,000 is the P&Cs contribution to the purchase. We believe this will be of benefit to the entire school community for many years to come.

06.01.2022 The P&C is running its annual Mothers/Mothers/Mothers Day stall this coming Tuesday the 8th of May. Gifts range in price from 50c to $5 and there are some really great things on offer. If youre a CWPS parent and you have some time on the day to help with setting up, packing away or staffing the stall (or all of the above) contact Matthew on [email protected]. Its a fun and rewarding way to help the school community.

05.01.2022 Next Wednesday the P&C is holding a ballot to elect office holders for 201819. This ballot was to be held at the April meeting, but we didnt have a quorum. Well be electing a President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. Come along and get involved in building and nurturing your school community!
