24.01.2022 "Are you my new mummy?" It is kitten season again, and there has been a record number of stray kittens in Warwick this year. Many of these cute babies end up on the street, in the pound, hit by cars, producing more litters of kittens, or bitten by snakes. As cute as these little babies are, it is a good idea to desex your pet cats to avoid contributing to the overpopulation issue.

23.01.2022 Oh hi there, Bruce here! My human pals have told me that August is dental month! Here at the clinic we have lots of dental care products and chews to help keep all those nasty dental diseases at bay. As you can see I am very fond my daily chews.

22.01.2022 This gorgeous Mother Goose, with her sore wing, and her Goslings made heads turn as they waltzed into the clinic to see Dr Cathy. They all seemed very comfortable with their visit to the clinic and they were sure to tell everyone about it *HONK HONK*! After an incident with a moving car, Mother Goose ended up having a fractured wing! This was carefully bandaged and she was able to be sent home to take care of these cuties. ... Stay tuned for how this story continues! *Can you guess what breed of Goose she is?

22.01.2022 Have a wonderful and safe weekend everyone! I know I will... Regards, Poppy

21.01.2022 WHAT TO DO IF YOUR DOG EATS RAT BAIT? -If you see your dog eat rat bait - please call immediately, as we can start prompt treatment. Our dogs and cats can also get sick if they eat mice/rats that have been killed by rat baits. -Seeing your pet at the clinic early can mean your pet will be much less likely to get sick. If they have only just eaten the rat bait, we are able to make them vomit to empty the stomach. This is the best chance for the pet to not absorb much of t...he toxin. -If you are suspicious that your dog has eaten any rat bait (even the "pet safe" ones), please call us and make a time to be seen by a vet promptly. The toxin in rat bait causes the pet to not form blood clots and then bleed excessively - we are able to run a blood test to see if your pet is able to form a blood clot normally. -If our blood test is abnormal, or we are suspicious of rat bait poisoning, we can start treatment. Treatment involves medication to help the body form blood clots so that they can stop bleeding excessively. There can be a time delay for when this medication starts working - if your pet is very unwell and/or bleeding, we will often recommend a blood or plasma transfusion to stop the bleeding immediately. -None of the "pet safe" rat baits are safe for dogs and cats - even though they say they are safe, they just mean they are slightly less potent. We have seen many animals life threateningly unwell from eating "pet safe" rat baits. -If you are at all worried about your pet, please don't hesitate to call the clinic on 4667 1176.

20.01.2022 Lola recently came into care with Southern Downs ARK, with several babies on board! A few weeks later, Lola had 9 adorable pups. However, they have left us scratching our heads over what breed they are (we have a few guesses!). Pictured below is Lola herself, one of the babes at 2wks old, and all the pups together at 4wks old. Post your breed guesses below, as there is a DNA test pending, results to be posted soon!

12.01.2022 Do you remember the story from last week about Mother Goose? Here she is, enjoying her time with her friends and a few Goslings. Her story was a success! Her fractured wing bone healed nicely and feels strong and stable. Dr Cathy was able to take her bandage off and send her back home to her loving family! Thank you to those who guessed her breed, you were right! She is a Roman Tufted Goose!

10.01.2022 Happy vet nurse day! We appreciate all the hard and often unnoticed work that vet nurses do every day. Behind the scenes of every vet clinic is a team of vet nurses working tirelessly day in and day out to make things run smoothly!

07.01.2022 Whiskey loved visiting the clinic recently, not because he needed his surgery site checked but for the delicious chicken treats he was being offered! We're sure Whiskey will be happy to come back any time!

04.01.2022 COVID UPDATE: We'd like to thank you all for being so understanding throughout the COVID-19 restriction period. As some of you are aware, restrictions have eased and we have been allowing a reduced number of people to enter the clinic. Our staff have been able to re-group so we can continue to provide a high standard of care to all our clients and patients. Even though restrictions have eased, we still ask that if you are feeling unwell particularly with upper respiratory s...igns, please do not visit the clinic. If it is an emergency situation, please contact the clinic for advise, or see if there is someone else that can bring your pet in. Please also maintain social distancing of 1.5m between people when inside the clinic, in the waiting room as well as in consultation rooms. We have hand sanitiser available for use prior to and after appointments as well. We hope that everyone has stayed healthy throughout this time, and look forward to continuing to see our lovely clients and their pets.

04.01.2022 A moment of silence for all the cups of tea fallen to inquisitive foster creatures! Pictured here is Duckie, an adorably mischievous foster kitten from Southern Downs ARK. Dr Christine (and her cat-loving partner Damien) fostered Duckie for a few months while she was recovering from serious illness.

03.01.2022 Apparently we don't need to go out and buy anymore toys for Poppy. Pens have her quite entertained!

02.01.2022 This little galah was in recently to have his wing examined - a bandage was placed to keep the wing stable and close to the body to enable healing. He was then sent on for care with one of the qualified wildlife carers in the area. If you notice wildlife in your area that needs help, please call Granite Belt Wildlife Carers on their hotline number 0418 144 073. If the wildlife appears injured, they can also be dropped off at the clinic with a few details, so that they can be assessed and passed onto wildlife carers afterwards.

02.01.2022 This little cutie was in for his de-sexing procedure. He was very well behaved and got lots of pats post op!

02.01.2022 Marmaduke is an adorable foster baby who was in hospital over the weekend. All animals can become dehydrated, but puppies/kittens are particularly susceptible as they often have minimal reserves in their little bodies, and can't tolerate fluid losses as well as adult animals. Marmaduke had some diarrhoea, which left him weak and dull and not wanting to eat. After some fluids and good nursing care, Marmaduke was able to start eating again, and has so far made a remarkable recovery. If you are worried about your pet becoming dehydrated or unwell, particularly as the weather warms up, please call us on 4667 1176.

02.01.2022 Fly says "C'mon, hurry up and throw the ball already!" Getting enough exercise and mental stimulation is vital to keep our furry friends happy and healthy, and help prevent destructive behaviours.

01.01.2022 Here is a follow up for our vet nurse Tarni's dog Dachs. Dachs was in hospital 9mths ago for treatment for a snake bite, and we are all pleased to say he has recovered fully. Tarni says that he doesn't seem to have grown any more brain cells since the snake incident, but he is just as lovable and goofy as always.

01.01.2022 We were lucky enough to celebrate a delicious belated birthday cake for Dr Christine's birthday Saturday. She loved the surprise afternoon tea Monday while she had a quick space between consultations.
