23.01.2022 What is perinatal mental illness? Perinatal mental illnesses like anxiety and depression are common and can be serious. One in five expecting or new mothers and one in ten expecting or new fathers will experience anxiety and/or depression, affecting around 100,000 families across Australia every year. Left untreated, perinatal mental illness can have long-lasting impacts on parents, partners, baby and the rest of the family. The key to getting help is being able to recognise that something is wrong and being brave enough to ask for help to ‘tell someone who cares’. That might be talking to your partner, child and family health nurse, doctor or PANDA’s National Helpline - 1300 726 306 #PANDAWeek2020 #TellSomeoneWhoCares

22.01.2022 Update: Flights arriving at Canberra Airport from South Australia (SA) From this evening the ACT Health public health response teams are meeting all inbound f...lights from SA at Canberra Airport. The public health response team will provide travellers with information on COVID-19 symptoms and locations in the ACT where they can undergo testing if they develop symptoms while in the ACT. Testing will also be available at Canberra Airport from tonight for anyone travelling from SA with COVID-19 symptoms to facilitate quick and easy testing. The situation in SA is a rapidly evolving situation and this is part of our public health response to the emerging cluster in Adelaide. A full list of identified exposure sites has been published by SA Health (https://bit.ly/2UxnejP) and will be updated as new sites are identified. The advice for Canberrans who have recently returned from SA prior to today is the same for anyone who has recently travelled outside the ACT. If you have recently returned, Check Back and if you have been at any of the locations identified by SA Health, follow the health advice. We also ask all travellers, including returning Canberrans, to be aware of COVID-19 symptoms. If you develop symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny or blocked nose, loss of sense of smell or taste), no matter how mild, immediately get tested and self-isolate until you receive a negative result. It’s important to do this for the full 14 days after having been in South Australia, as the list of possible exposure sites will be updated regularly. ACT Health is continuing to monitor the unfolding situation closely and will provide updated advice to the community as needed. Keep up to date at www.covid19.act.gov.au

03.01.2022 Panda Week 8th November - 14th November 2020 Being pregnant or becoming a new parent can be both exciting and challenging. Having trouble adjusting to the changes that come with impending parenthood or the arrival of a new baby is natural. Feeling a little ‘teary’, anxious or irritable for a few days in the weeks after the birth often referred to as the ‘baby blues’ is common. However, if you are an expecting or new parent and a low mood, feelings of anxiousness or other... troubling thoughts or feelings start to cause you concerns or stop you from functioning normally, it might be time to ‘tell someone who cares’. Speak with your GP or call Panda on 1300 726 306. #PANDAWeek2020 #TellSomeoneWhoCares See more
