16.01.2022 We received an interesting enquiry from someone (Roger) looking for some help about an old harvester: "A harvester designed by Francis Dennis Fogarty in WA was demonstrated in Bathurst in 1918, but was also demo-ed at Cowra and Condobolin (see Sydney Morning Herald 22/02/1918). Another name associated with this machine was de Brandt. The only known remains of this type of machine appears to be in WA, and there is not much left. Do you have any relevant local information, or m...aybe know of a relic in the area?" Please comment if you can help point Roger in the right direction.
16.01.2022 Condobolin is experiencing major flooding and the peak on the Lachlan River is still to come. The latest prediction by the Bureau of Meteorology is that the fl...ood peak will be around 6.8 metres tomorrow. The area is well prepared and residents in North Forbes Road (east of Waitohi Lane) and Waitoni Lane have been given a flood evacuation warning (not an order) to prepare to leave their homes if necessary. People should have or be doing - 1. Raise belongings by placing them on tables, beds and benches. Put electrical items on top. You may be able to place light weight items in the roof space. 2. Collect together medicines, personal and financial documents, mementos and photos 3. If possible, check to see if your neighbours need help. 4. Make arrangements for care of pets or other animals, or take your pets with you when you evacuate. 5. Take three days’ supply of clothing, medicines and personal hygiene products. 6. If you are planning to go to the evacuation centre, take blankets/sleeping bags, pillows and sleeping mats. 7. Find out where to turn off the electricity and gas. 8. Continue to listen to a local radio station for updates. 04.01.2022 Does anyone one in Condo have memories of Bill Leak . He is the cartoonist for the Australian Newspaper ,and a celebrated artist . I am guessing he lived in Condo as a kid in the mid 60's .
