25.01.2022 A common conversation with clients - "Don't get pulled into the price war...just cause your competitors are doing it. If you feel your customers are pushing your price down....you haven't demonstrated enough value. If you compete ONLY on price.... you may eventually price yourself out of business" http://www.mybusiness.com.au//2458-is-price-discounting-er
25.01.2022 Great news from the Small Business Ombudsman. The key thing is to now empower Accountants with the recipe and system to take action on these requests for support. How many of you have spoken to your Accountant regarding this type of support, and what was the result of that conversation?
25.01.2022 So excited to share my budgeting learning's after nearly 4 awesome years of working with Sue Papadoulis of Publicity for Profit at next weeks CPA Congress in Sydney and Lorne!! :Topic : Real World Budgeting for SME Clients. Super excited to see our plans for 2017 Budget fall into place!!
24.01.2022 Another "Looking Back Review" done and dusted with a great new client! Some awesome REAL insights into profitability of the different parts of the business. Great conversations and decisions regarding pricing, discounting and lots more!! Really excited to take the next step and set the plan for changes going forward. I love this stuff so much and its power still amazes me!!
23.01.2022 1 of the 9 Small business Frustrations. Like if you have ever experienced this in business...or know someone who has!! How did that feel?
23.01.2022 "Financial performance consulting" (Advisory work) does involve numbers...but has less to do with the numbers, and more to do with what those numbers mean to the client. The magic happens in the face to face discussion based on a well presented report. That is the difference between price-competitive compliance work and value based Advisory work.
22.01.2022 One of the 9 most common frustrations in business. Confident Cashflows & our team of Accredited consultants are here to help. Who loves worry free holidays????
22.01.2022 Celebrating 8 years in business in the best way possible! 2 days of empowering accountants to step up and be MORE to their Small business clients! Wow - what a ride it's been! Thanks for all the well wishes everyone!
22.01.2022 Final prep underway for the "Real world" Budgeting & High Value Cashflow forecasting for SME's at the NSW & VIC CPA Congress' in May
21.01.2022 From this article : "The strongest influence on business decision making was financial data from their own business (37 per cent) beating out accountants with just 30 per cent" Once again this tells me that the financial data of a business (relied on 37%) with the financial understanding of an accountant (30%) is a match made in heaven = 67%. I really think that its not a case of one or the other - but more a case of both financial data & the accountant giving REAL information on which SME's base their decisions! http://www.accountantsdaily.com.au//9168-sme-missing-out-b
21.01.2022 An article of mine published with Accountants Daily - Turning year end conversations into more advisory work. https://www.accountantsdaily.com.au//10374-turning-year-en
20.01.2022 Looking forward to sharing my learning's regarding CF Forecasting while working with Peter B Butler of Smarter WordPress Websites, with CPA Australia NSW & VIC Congress attendees this May!!!
19.01.2022 Being in business can be one of the most exciting experiences of your life. It can also be the most stressful! Poor profitability and the Cashflow crunch can create huge anxiety, especially when financial understanding are generally not many business owners strength. Do you someone in business? Ask them... R U Ok?
18.01.2022 "The government plans to allow the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) to disclose to credit reporting bureaus the names of those who owe the money unless they have effectively engaged with the ATO to manage these debts" Unfortunately when cashflow is tight in SME's, the ATO account is often neglected. This is why I encourage weekly or fortnightly payments to the ATO account / savings to a separate bank account to avoid defaults (as much as possible) in GST, PAYG instalments and assessed tax. http://www.theaustralian.com.au//07646784ba6f0a8caec65a1a4
18.01.2022 Love the message in this article, despite its pitch towards software promotion. I have seen first hand how opening up the regular conversations regarding profit, naturally opens up the conversations about productivity & efficiency..... And it's not necessarily reliant on a specific software https://www.kochiesbusinessbuilders.com.au//small-busines/
18.01.2022 Just finished 2 presentations to Sydney CPA public practice accountants... On budgeting and cashflow!!! Awesome feedback and some great questions! I love this stuff!!!
18.01.2022 Small business owners : Would love your thoughts....Who do you feel is your Top Trusted Advisor? You Banker, financial planner, Accountant...... or your mates? (and why ... what makes that person stand out) Interesting article talking about most highly regarded professions in ethics & honesty. http://www.roymorgan.com//6797-image-of-professions-2016-2

15.01.2022 2 Critical errors resulted in this unfortunate small business failure! (1): discounting does NOT always feed profit with an Increase in volume! Sometimes it can cost MORE to deliver the product / service .... And kill your business! (2) : franchisees need to REALLY understand their numbers.... And not blindly trust a franchisor. https://au.news.yahoo.com//price-war-forces-eagle-boys-i/
15.01.2022 Troubling data about the branding of accountants as "trusted advisor". (only 9.3% believe its their accountant) Seems accountants are losing that "title". What are you doing / what do you think we (accountants) should be doing to encourage more "trusted advisor" conversation" with SME clients? https://www.accountantsdaily.com.au//10093-troubling-data-
14.01.2022 Year end Client Meeting : How to inspire confidence in your Business Advisory Services http://www.confidentcashflowsplus.com.au//inspire-confide/
13.01.2022 A big lesson for the accounting industry. My biggest learning to building a unique high value service was the ability to sell (communicate and negotiate)
08.01.2022 Just finished delivering what was normally a 1/2 day in person event (only in Perth) - and is now a online webinar series over 3 days to accountants in South Australia, Queensland, Victoria and Northern Territory!! Technology of today!!! Love it!!
08.01.2022 Yes, Employers want to attract accountants who have "people skills". But I think we need to look deeper into this problem. If the accounting industry is moving to more consulting/advisory and away from tax & compliance....surely the whole accounting industry needs to be supporting our accounting students/members to learn these people skills...(instead of content being 99% focused on tax/compliance work) Things I had to learn "the hard way" were how to have a "sales conversation" without sounding "salesey", how to communicate value in "Value added services"....
05.01.2022 One great thing about "unsolicited emails" - they tell you your Google ranking. Just checked - I am number #2 and #4 for "Cashflow Perth" after the paid ads. Well .... seems like Marketing DOES work Tracey !!!
04.01.2022 Ever make the mistake of thinking "I'll bath the newborn and the older kids together...that'll save time" I think I still have PTSD from the 'I'll wash the b...aby's face' incident of 2014 GAIA - Australian family owned and operated and beautiful products. Johnson and Johnson imported from Malaysia (sometimes elsewhere ) Here's a little Johnson & Johnson summary * Traces of asbestos found in their talcum powder. Internal memos demonstrate J&J knew about this. * Successfully sued for $4.7billion by 22 women who developed ovarian cancer from their talcum powder * Paid $775 Million to victims after it was found their blood thinner caused internal bleeding * Their anti-psychotic medication was found to cause men to grow breasts (and they were successfully sued for billions over it) * Paid $117 million in a settlement over it's deceptive marketing of pelvic mesh products * $572 million paid to the state of Oklahoma for their direct role in fuelling the US opioid crisis So maybe it's time to #maketheswap #maketheswapaustralia #madeinaustralia body wash baby wash

03.01.2022 A timely post as the accountant are "chasing their tails" for the 15 May tax deadline!!! Do you ever get the feeling that clients dont actually value the work you do for them? http://www.confidentcashflowsplus.com.au//how-to-give-val/
01.01.2022 A step in the right direction for the Accounting industry! http://www.accountantsdaily.com.au//9723-major-aussie-uni-
01.01.2022 How many of you have small business clients who feel like this?
01.01.2022 Jobs of the future : Those accountants (and bookkeepers) that engage in :"analysis"..... will survive! Intellectual capitalism will thrive! And its so much more fun doing the analysis and communicating it - than BAS and Tax!
01.01.2022 The Art of Sales and Marketing for Accountants or, the magic beans and the belly ache I really hate sales and marketing. It makes me feel sick to think about trying to persuade people to please let me do their accounting. Sure, I can do the work. But thats all I want to do.... A whopping 27% of accountants I surveyed recently said their resistance to Sales & Marketing was the main reason why they werent pursuing more SME business advisory work just itching..... See more
