02.01.2022 Do you sip on your soft drink, soda or acidic drink all day long? One way to reduce the amount of decay in your mouth is by reducing the amount of sugary, acidic drinks in our diets. This includes sport drinks, energy drinks and even fruit juice. Our oral bacteria in our mouths metabolises the sugar in our drinks. This creates a reaction of acid byproduct that erodes our teeth in an acid attack! The acidity in drinks takes a more direct route than sugar and can erode your tee...th without the help of oral bacteria. This is why "diet" and "sugar free" drinks do just as much damage to our teeth. Enamel erosion can also lead to tooth sensitivity, and excess sugar leads to gum disease, the biggest cause of tooth loss in adults.
