24.01.2022 We all go through challenging moments in life and sometimes we’re stuck in a dark place struggling to find the light. Hardship can be used as positivity to mould, strengthen and to become more resilient. I met Masi at Long Bay Jail and back then he was helping inmates anyway he knew how and he is true to his character still continuing to help others through his lived experience. Today he is one of the directors of ConFit Pathways a NFP helping to educate former inmates to have the right mindset so they can live a full and purpose driven life. #secondchances #recidivism #traintobefree #mindset

23.01.2022 In prison we trained because that was our way to mentally escape the negative realities of our current situation. We trained to be free and we live by these words. Don’t just train for the sake of it, find your reason to train. #traintobefree #consistency #motivation #training #fitness #outdoorfitness #bootcamp #trainer #fitnesstrainer

14.01.2022 ConFit got invited to Frank Baxter Youth Justice Centre to run training routines and motivational talks and just to give some advise and a reality check for the young fellas in juvie. Junior and I, combined have spent over 22yrs of prison time and this was a chance for us to make things right, in hopes to help stop young lives being wasted inside of prison cells. We were fortunate enough to get a camera inside to document the whole day. Full video will be dropping soon. #traintobefree #youthjustice #secondchances #socialimpact

13.01.2022 There is no other way to move forward but through consistency and making an effort. Make fitness a daily habit. @ausfittactical #traintobefree #consistency #dailyhabits #bootcamp

13.01.2022 Many people in society are so quick to judge when they find out that you have done jail time. People are afraid of what they don’t know and there are many communities out there that we have no idea about, the way these people grew up and the conditions that they lived in. The media shines a negative light on inmates as hardened criminals who can never change. I have a different perspective of what I saw in prison. Yes there are some bad people in jail but that number only mak...es up a small minority and there are many worse people outside. The majority of people in prison are products of their environment, lack of opportunities, the lack of education and some kind of childhood trauma. The people who need the most support are locked away in the most unsupportive negative environment and once they are released they are shunned out by society and you wonder why the revolving door of recidivism is so high. Society only tries to solve the external problems at hand, longer prison sentences, build more prisons and tougher laws! But how about starting with the root causes. Motivate, educate and have a pipeline of ongoing support from prison into the community through employment and the right mentors. ConFit Pathways is a NPF that does exactly this, because we believe in an equal society and opportunities for those who want that second chance. #recidivism #secondchances #opportunity #education

03.01.2022 In Australia 84% of Juvenile offenders will return to custody within 5 years of their release. Spending time with the boys at Cobham juvenile detention centre as part of an ongoing mentoring initiative, it confirmed what we knew already, they are not the monsters that everyone paints them out to be, but rather products of growing up in a broken environment. The team at ConFit know this situation too well and through our lived experience we plan to reduce juvenile recidivism ...in Australia one centre at a time. Thank you @visuallab_ig @zoku_creative For creating great video content. #mentoring #recidivism #juvenilejustice #livedexperience #fitness #prisonfit #traintobefree #boxing #socialimpact #youthjustice
