23.01.2022 I am feeling my identity as Australian being tarnished by those who are supposed to be representing us. Our individual identity is important to us, such as, our strengths and values. But what we are seeing in how our elite sportsmen are representing us , is a sad reflection on us...how did this happen? I was happy to put the cricket fiasco behind us and mentally forgive those who cheated last year, (until they started making money out of it),but as I watched Bernard Tomic in... round one Australian Open match disengage in an opportunity to show his strengths and talents, and then to deflect accountability caused me to wonder, what are our values and motivations as a sporting nation? Yes, it's just dudes hitting or throwing a ball- not high value hero stuff (like our true heroes in doctors, nurses, firefighters, teachers, and our emergency service men and women)...but the eyes of the world are on us...what are we showing the world? 22.01.2022 James Clear dammit! Got some bad habits that are hard to quit? Now that I have read James Clear "Atomic Habits " from cover to cover, I can't go back to my shoddy avoidant habits!! Duohhh!!! They were sooooo comfortable...I thought....Now I know better, I have to practice my yoga every day and stop avoiding those downward dogs that haunted me every session. Now that I have learned to love the excellence that comes with awareness of repetition, repetition (so important I said it twice!) and 1% better every day...guess what? I am not hating the downward dog. (Also thanks to awesome "Yoga with Adriene"- a must for the home yoga devotee) .My thought "habits" have lost their power. And....I feel better....What thought habit would you like to quit? What's the first step? Care to share?

22.01.2022 We learn by making connections.I love this quote I found on Instagram from "The balanced You" Photo courtesy of Pixabay (love it). Whenever I speak with my special, amazing clients (which is all of them) we often reflect on this notion. They will hear me say "What ever has happened in the past, is just good information now". We can't change our past but we can look ahead and make great plans for the future. At connect ADHD we specialize in making plans SMARTER. Find out more? Connect with us....www.connectadhd.com

21.01.2022 I was recently given an opportunity to speak to the AMAZING Dr Ned Hallowell. Dr Hallowell is without doubt, an incredibly positive and inspiring human being, not to mention a world authority and respected author (specialising in the treatment of ADHD).If you don't know, I have co-written an article with a fantastic ADHD Coach Barbara Hunter . In short, we want to get people connecting to those who are frightened and vulnerable, those young and older that have a mind in crisi...s, ...and fib. Let's face it, we have all done it. And why...find out by listening to the podcast. Barbara and I also believe it is the "new F" in the "Fight, flight and freeze " fear response. Our primitive ancestors didn't have language, but we do. And we use it to protect ourselves. Have a listen...what do you think? Do you tell fibs or fabricate, or know someone does, and this frustrates you? Let us know what you think. I can also highly recommend any of Dr Hallowell's podcasts interviews and recordings. Connect. See more

19.01.2022 Hi! October is ADHD Awareness Month! You’ll see a ton of information about ADHD everywhere. But who knows what’s accurate and what’s not? ADDA knows! That’s why ADDA created the TADD Talk program. As an adult with ADHD, you need reliable, science-based information. That’s why the Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA) brings you proven programming. It’s a caring community of adults with ADHD who’ve been supporting adults with ADHD for over 25 years. I’m thrilled to gi...ve one of their now-famous TADD Talks this October! I’ll be speaking about Practices in Partnership for Couples impacted by ADHD. ADDA’s TADD Talks program brings 31 of the best experts on adult ADHD together. They invite each expert to give a TADD Talk. A riff on TED Talks, TADD Talks are short (half the length of a TED Talk because, you know, ADHD!) Each talk tackles a different adult ADHD topic every day during the month of October! This year, I’ll be giving my TADD Talk alongside experts like Sari Solden, Dr. Ari Tuckman, Linda Walker, Linda Roggli and more! Of course, I want you to listen to my TADD Talk. But you should subscribe to the whole series! Imagine! A new nugget of valuable information delivered right to you every day, all month long! Sign up right now to receive your daily dose of TADD Talk goodness. You can check out the schedule to see when I’ll be speaking here. Cheers Jonathan

15.01.2022 What did you notice and be grateful for today? On holidays and did a morning walk 13 out of 14 days! Grateful to be by the beach. To think I miss out on this beauty the other 50 weeks of the year! Such a great place I'm not telling anyone where it was. Glad I saw it when I did. Keen to hear what you saw.

14.01.2022 DAY 5 you know what month...there are people out there that are truly struggling. They might not show it...one beautiful lady client of mine sadly said one day: I’d rather be happy than funny... I hadn’t before processed there was a difference. People with ADHD ( yes grown ups too) can get sick of being the butt of people’s jokes, or known as the ditzy one. They could do with some understanding...and some connection...you know where to send them...

12.01.2022 A diagnosis of ADHD can be confronting at any age, boy, girl, man or woman. Fortunately, it can also be a true turning point and explain why things don’t always work or there is a constant struggle in the background. There is a lot to understand and process. Our ADHD Volcano diagram demonstrates the relation and context of behaviour seen with ADHD, the diagnosis and what lies beneath, the executive functions and neurological (brain) processes at play. Our website has a quick video also : Connect with us at www.connectadhd.com

12.01.2022 I love this saying:"Even though there are days I wish I could change some things that happened in the past, there’s a reason the rear view mirror is so small and the windshield is so big. Where you are headed is much more important that what you have left behind". As a coach I frequently explore this notion with my amazing clients. What has happened is in the past, and we can use it as good information moving forwards. There is no value in looking at the past with guilt or shame, we move forward using strengths, values and information to set realistic goals and put smart systems in place. We help people just like you everyday. Check out our testimonials. Connect with us: www.connectadhd.com

11.01.2022 Can adults have ADHD too? Most of my clients had not been diagnosed with ADHD as a child. Often it comes as a shock at first, but then looking back over past behavioural patterns it starts to make sense. ADHD reveals itself differently in adults than in children, often in unexpected ways. Working with a qualified ADHD & Executive Function coach can help demystify ADHD and support you in reassessing your previous beliefs about yourself, and realign with your strengths and values moving forward. A diagnosis of ADHD can be a great pivot point. Connect with us to find out more about one-on-one coaching for adults with ADHD at [email protected]

10.01.2022 Day 4 of ADHD Awareness month. What are you grateful for today.? Being in moments of gratitude are not only wonderful for your heart, (literally, so that it is not in a state of stress) but they are super helpful for your brain. I am sharing my gratitude for my son and husband -they created this divine Japanese Garden in our back yard (the white puppy, Casper is delighted- he can't figure out why we made such lavish renovations to his toilet! He will need to find somewhere else to poop now! ) ...I am so grateful for this place of serenity ...an addition to my "happy place list" ...What are you grateful for and where is your happy place /s?(Mt Cooth- tha lookout is nos 2 happy place, Chen Rezig followed by Arc D'Triomph Paris and Bribie Island Woorim beach ) ....Yours?? Connect with your happy place...would love to see your lists.

10.01.2022 OMG ! This is amazing!!!

09.01.2022 Mindfulness is a huge part of how we support our clients in managing their ADHD or challenges with executive function. Dandapani doesn't actually say the word mindfulness here, but this awesome video describes it in terms of concentration- which can be very difficult in this highly distracting world that we are currently experiencing. At Connect ADHD Coaching, we focus on what our mind is thinking, what it is processing and the impact of those factors. Taking time to step ou...t of being caught up is key. "It is better to do nothing than waste time". I heard this saying years ago, and took me a good minute or two to process its meaning. To concentrate on the words and not presume that they were the same thing. In fact, they can be very different. Or they can be the same. It depends on the focus. It distractions and focus are overwhelming you, connect with us www.connectadhd.com See more

09.01.2022 OCTOBER is ADHD Awareness month. So ...part of my approach to coaching my amazing clients with this disposition (and I REFUSE to call it a disorder given the percentage of the population likely to be predisposed to it- genetically linked and 4- 11% of the population) ...is Mindfulness... and increased awareness in the present moment. JACARANDA!!! Family tradition to yell that when you see the first in October. So that's some of the beauty that I noticed in my walk this morn...ing....the first of the Jacarandas around Bardon...care to say what you noticed today??? Would love to read what you have noticed....I also noticed my beautiful friend Michelle going on a fantastic cruise (again!!!) ....enjoy Michelle! Oh and for those of you that know me, my divine daughter was up from Melbourne overnight (and she totally appreciated my Jacaranda story). It is so important to Connect. See more

Called "ADHD, Lying and the Fib Response"', we talk about the very human side of "fibbing" and how it is actually a protective response. 03.01.2022 Day 7 of ADHD Awareness Month. What did your report cards say about you? Here's a famous one. "It would be nice if you would leave, Albert. Your behavior in school, so distracted and absent minded, and your poor interest in everything I teach, set a bad example for the whole class" True story. School is such a place of wonder and enrichment for many, for others a place of frustration. Learning differences are only now being incorporated into school systems- but they don't ...reach all that need it. Me, I got an "E" in home economics in year 8 but blitzed everything else. What were your highs and not as highs at school? I talk to many of my clients and the words "Class clown" are highly representative! Would love to hear your story. Just because school wasn't somewhere where you thrived, doesn't mean you can't be absolutely brilliant. Troubled by this or know someone that is? Connect with us. See more
