12.01.2022 Hello and welcome! For those who don't know me, my name is Nyree and I am the Managing Director of Connect and Grow Supports. My ethos and the mission of Connect and Grow is to work alongside participants of the NDIS, their families and wider support network to build independence, capacity and resilience whilst working towards and achieving goals. I am very excited to open this space to provide a platform for our community to honour our individual and team achievements, reflect on progress, share knowledge and insights and most of all, have fun! This is a safe space and we are real people with varying abilities connecting and growing together whilst moving through the ebbs and flows of life. 06.01.2022 Those who have pets know that they aren't just animals, but members of our families. The safety and comfort of our fury (or feathered) family members is so important and being far away from them can take a toll on our bond and mental health . Animals, especially dogs, can support us to develop understanding and skills in many areas including: Communication skills Confidence and independence Empathy to new situations... Emotional understanding Social relationships Tactile perception Reduce anxiety Provide routine and stability Environmental understanding Self-esteem Family relationships Behaviour patterns Jay raised George from an 8 week pup, and they have such a beautiful and strong bond. Although Jay is unable to have George stay with him at the moment, it is so important that they have regular contact. Emma and her lovely family welcomed George into their home to foster him yesterday, which is just a short walk or bike ride from Jay. This means he can go and spend time with George whenever he wants. We are so stoked to have been able to help facilitate this fantastic outcome for everyone involved, especially Jay who has shown such courage, resilance and flexibility through this big transition !
