16.01.2022 Over the hill we go into 2021. Huge thanks to our customers and supporters during the wild ride that was 2020. Looking forward to bringing connectivity to more farms in Australia and New Zealand this year.
16.01.2022 Interesting article by the ABC - the advances in digital agriculture to achieve these outcomes are huge - not just in the sensor data mentioned in the article - also vital is data storage and local processing and connectivity for machinery controls so prescription rates etc are properly controlled. IoT and GPS are not enough - high speed, high quality connectivity is needed to farms especially as more drought events are likely going forward. https://www.abc.net.au//farmers-managing-in-drou/11739648
16.01.2022 Farm in North Qld? There are $15 million available in North Queensland Telecommunications grants in the 14 LGA's hit by the 2019 North Qld monsoon trough. The grants are dependant on co-contribution in $ or in kind and, in most cases, Connected Farms would contribute that for you - so if you are looking to improve connectivity over your farm (or your shire - we are interested in speaking with councils too) with Private LTE or Wi-Fi or LoRaWan or mobile satellite lets have a ...chat. It won't cost you anything for a chat and in most cases won't cost you anything for your network. 13.01.2022 We see this all the time - and never mind call drops, many farms do not even get any coverage at all. That's why we started Connected Farms. Farmers should be able to go about their workday knowing the have mobile coverage on their land - so they know they can call out in an emergency and to enable digital agriculture. Great connectivity, fence to fence.... https://www.abc.net.au//telstra-outages-causing-/11780446
12.01.2022 Interesting article about the development of AI and autonomous tractors in precision ag. Seems they also are having problems getting workers on the land. 02.01.2022 Farm Safety Week Decent broadband helps and fence to fence coverage helps even more - connectivity is a really important element of farm safety because: 1. Worker safety - experts agree that many farm accidents have far worse consequences because of the inability to summon emergency help quickly. 2. Safety awareness and training - access to safety apps and training on line including on line checklists. Vital for lone worker situations.... 3. Mental Health - the ability to connect, to reach out, just to call a friend is invaluable and so important in rural areas. See more
