25.01.2022 Our ability to get out of our Stage 4 restrictions is in our hands. Apart from staying home, socially distancing and wearing a mask, the best thing you can do to stop the spread of COVID-19 is to get tested when youre sick. No matter how mild. Every test increases our understanding of how the virus is spreading. ... So if you have any symptoms however mild get tested and get yourself home: Fever Chills or sweats Cough Sore throat Shortness of breath Runny nose Loss of sense of smell or taste And if you have been tested before but have symptoms again, get tested again. To find your nearest testing site: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/getting-tested And if you need information about coronavirus translated, visit: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/translated-resources-coronaviru By pulling together, we can beat this. #letsbeatthis #covid19

24.01.2022 It's Fri-yay! And today's COVID-19 infection rate is below 50. Yay, alright! So we've got to stay the course: stay home, keep socially distanced and wear masks - it will all help ease our social restrictions soon.... And if you have any symptoms - no matter how mild - get tested. Even if you think your sniffle is just hayfever, or your cough is "nothing" - getting tested is the only way you can know for sure. And it's the only way we will really know where the virus is so we can defeat it. Everyone has done and amazing job so far - and we're nearly there. Stay home, stay safe and before you know it, this time will be over. For more info on coronavirus, visit www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus For translation services, visit: www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/translated-resources-coronavirus-diseas #stayhome #staysafe #gettested #sociallydistance Connect Health & Community remains open to support our community through Stage 4 restrictions. 17.01.2022 Healthy Bones Action Week Did you know it as recently Healthy Bones Action Week? Poor bone health affects to in three Australians and can lead to serious fractures, that can cause chronic pain, disability and loss of independence. ... To maintain our bone health it is important we get enough calcium and Vitamin D, as well as participating in regular exercise. Because of the current COVID-19 restrictions we are spending more time at home and indoors than ever before. And having only just escaped winter, weve had limited sunshine, one of the most natural sources of Vitamin D. But there are food choices you can add to your diet that are high in Vitamin D, such as: Fatty fish - Tuna and Salmon Egg yolks Cheese Foods fortified with Vitamin D - In Australia, Vitamin D is added to margarines, milk and soy drinks, as well as some breads and cereals. Calcium is one of the main building blocks of bone, so it is also vital we are getting enough in our diet. Dairy is one of the richest sources of calcium but you can also get calcium from dark green vegetables, almonds, bony fish e.g. sardines and tinned salmon, and fortified soymilk. And dont forget exercise. Weight bearing exercise is best for strengthening our bones so dont forget to go for that daily, one hour walk. A win-win with Vitamin D too. If you would like to see a Dietitian, contact us on 03) 9575 5333. We remain open during Stage 4 and are offering a range of services including telephone and telehealth consultations. #yourhealthmatters #stayconnected Picture: Silvia Rita on Pixabay
