21.01.2022 G’day, it’s Susie here. Sometimes you talk with someone and long after the conversation is over their words carry a lasting impact. Over my media career I have had the absolute pleasure of interviewing one-on-one some of the world’s most entertaining and accomplished stars, including the charming and drop-dead gorgeous George Clooney.... But it was internationally celebrated mime-artist Marcel Marceau, whose words about the ‘Art of Silence’, that really stayed with me. After all, what is said is so much more than the words that come out of our mouth. I’d love to hear if you have had a similar experience. Or maybe you’ve met someone famous? Feel free to share your story in the comments below or email me at [email protected]. Bye for now, x Susie.

18.01.2022 (Hearing is) the emotional connection with another person. It’s not about if I can hear the right words. Featuring in news.com.au, Connect Hearing ambassador Osher Günsberg has spoken about how his hearing loss impacted his personal life and relationships. It wasn’t until Osher was married and no longer living alone that he realised he had to take action to manage his hearing loss. The home is often where people suffering from hearing loss feel most isolated. Our #ConnectA...ndBeHeard report found eight out of ten Australians most want to be heard in their own home, but four out ten feel the most unheard in their own homes. You can read Osher’s story on news.com.au here: https://www.news.com.au///392d890b97d01185ad33dbddae970065 #HearingHealth #HearingLoss #ConnectAndBeHeard

06.01.2022 For those with hearing loss, face masks can be a real communication barrier as they make it much harder to read facial expressions. So if you’re wearing a face mask and talking to someone with hearing loss, remember to : Slow down and try not to talk too fast Move to a quiet place if you can Use hand gestures when speaking as they can be really helpful... Articulate your words and try not to mumble Use an alternative communication method such as texting if possible #CovidSafe #HearingHealth #CommunicationTips
