05.01.2022 Posted by Kimberley Fischer What does the spray paint mean on a deceased animal? Its a common misconception that wildlife marked with spray paint are being collected by the council.... It actually means something completely different. Its a mark to signify that the animal has been pouch checked. We need to look inside pouches of any deceased marsupials to check for any joeys that may still be inside. They can last days in a pouch, and they can also be the size of a jellybean. Because of this, its REALLY important to do a pouch check even if it doesnt look like thered be anything in there. To determine whether an animal is male or female is usually quite easy. Our marsupials have pretty obvious testicles if theyre male. You can lift up a hind leg and usually youll be able to see straight away if its a male. If youre unsure, its likely its a female. I always say to people that it never hurts to ring a wildlife rescue group if theyre ever unsure on how to do a pouch check or if an animal is male or female. The most common animals in Melbourne that need pouch checking: Kangaroos Wallabies Wombats Koalas Brushtail and Ringtail Possums . . . #aussiewildlife #australianwildlife #marsupial #kangaroo #wombat #koala #possum #pouchcheckingsaveslives #wildliferescue #conservation

03.01.2022 Posted by Clare Malcolm White Ute with silver tray, driver with orange fluoro top & dog beside him in the vehicle stalked a fifteen year old walking around the valley in the last 30 minutes. As he slowed to almost a stop beside her at the entrance to the Northern Paddocks. A car came up behind him & forced him move forward. He then turned around & came back toward her repeatedly stalking her all the way to the club. If anyone saw this vehicle please get in touch.
