08.01.2022 The Mount Alexander region of central Victoria has a long history of disturbance. Since the 1800s our local ecosystems have experienced gold mining, timber cutting, clearing, contamination, weeds, pest animals, changes in fire and water regimes, and a changing climate. As observant people we are all too aware of examples of ongoing decline of our local ecosystems. Here is an opportunity to contribute to a new public inquiry into ecosystems decline in Victoria. https://connectingcountry.org.au/inquiry-into-ecosystems-d/

07.01.2022 We received a lovely message from some local landholders, Mark and Jan Dunn. They’ve made a huge effort to restore habitat on their property near Faraday, in Central Victoria, and were recently rewarded with a special sighting of this Australian Owlet-nightjar. It’s always heartening to hear about how the hard work of revegetation is really making a difference for our local wildlife. Have a read of their story on our blog here: https://connectingcountry.org.au/landholder-revegetation-a/
