23.01.2022 How do you go being compassionate towards yourself? I have found this practice to be life changing. I was very quick to speak negatively to myself when I failed, fell or didnt measure up. I believed that I could shame myself into being a better person. The practice of self compassion has been life changing, I have more kindness for myself and also for those around me.... Keep an eye on this page for more exciting offerings to develop more compassion and kindness in your life.

23.01.2022 We had a beautiful silent retreat afternoon at the Mindful Self Compassion course today. An opportunity to hear the earth singing and so much more.

23.01.2022 Looking forward to seeing the outcome of these studies. What do you think will be found?

23.01.2022 What a lovely letter to the editor of the advocate about the Mental Health Storytelling event that we held at the library last week. It was an honour to be a part of the team bringing this event together. The storytellers were indeed amazing and their stories deeply moving. Thanks Lyn

18.01.2022 Youll never reach a point in your life where everything is solved, all neatly tied up in a bow. Thats the point. Theres no final scene, only the on-going a...dventure movie, forever unresolved. You learn to love the mess of your life, its constantly changing nature, its unpredictability. And you stand as the immutable silence in the midst of the storm, the wide open space in which joy and pain, ecstasy and agony, boredom and bliss, can arise and subside like waves in the ocean. There are no problems when you know yourself as the space for it all. - Jeff Foster

17.01.2022 Oh #tinybuddha I love you

16.01.2022 The evidence is out. Connection makes a real difference.

16.01.2022 You are worth it.

13.01.2022 Last night we held Share the Journey a Mental Health story telling event at the #coffsharbourlibrary. This was an opportunity for those who live with mental illness to share their stories with their community. What we really saw was a group of storytellers push aside their self doubts and conditioned beliefs to stand in their power and reveal a part of themselves that not many people have the privelige to see. It takes courage and strength to sit with our pain and suffering... long enough tomake meaning of our experience. To find light where once darkness was all consuming. The audience was captivated and deeply moved by their truth, their honesty and their willingness to share their experiences, ones that could bring anyone of us to our knees. We opened our hearts with kindness and compassion to one another to see our common humanity. Thank you to the audience for your gift of deep listening it has effects beyond words for all who were present in the space. I leave the evening with my heart full and a feeling of hope for the future of our community to rise to the challenges we face and to support one another with a depth we have rarely seen before now. It was an honour to play a role in this event to celebrate mental health month along with Rowena from #harbourtherapyclinic, Lee Rickwood from #storyfruits, Sally Latin, Willa Hogarth, Simona Galimberti and Judy Atkinson from the Library. Also Thank You to #wayahead for the grant funding to make this event possible. #ittakesavillage #coffscoast #mentalhealthmatters #kindnessrules #listeningispowerful See more

13.01.2022 After an amazing first Stories Out Loud event I am reminded of this quote from Margaret Mead. Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, its the only thing that ever has. An absolute joy and honour to bring such an amazing group of Coffs Coast Community Champions together to share their dream. We are in good hands when you hear the heartening stories of the good people making a difference. Talk about sitting around solv...ing the worlds problems. We met the people doing it. Carbon neutral Coffs, Support for men, all kids are safe, all kids are creative, tiny houses to reduce homelessness especially for older women, music to nourish the soul, Coffs CARES group, and Ukelele joy in hospitals. If you need some good news about the world you dont need to look far. They exist in our amazing friends and neighbours. Thank you so much to everyone who made it possible. Lee Rickwood #storyfruits for holding strong on the vision and bringingsuch an amazing group together Kim Towner #happyfrog for a rocking venue, and delicious nourishing food Donna for videography Margie Hawtin and Joy Richardson the welcoming committee The fantastic story tellers Kim Towner John Mandile #mentorsformen Yvonne Kachel Jimmy Wags #jimmywags Kim Connelly #kimconnelly Sarah Whitteron #sarahwhitteron James Tonson #jamestonson Stephanie Sims #ukoono Thanks also to everyone who came along. 11.01.2022 Great way to explain it :) Your words have power

11.01.2022 I always find the ACT Radio Doom & Gloom metaphor very helpful..can you let your thoughts just burble away in the background without always believing them as the truth or taking them as orders? #ACT #metaphor

11.01.2022 Just beautiful.

10.01.2022 Within the spiral of healing, we will be asked to revision core beliefs about ourselves, others, and the world. To become a poet, painter, and sculptor of new l...ife. So many of our limited beliefs arose from an environment of empathic failure, where the brilliance of a little heart was unable to be held, where the majesty of the emotional landscape was unable to be recognized and mirrored back seeding pathways of unworthiness and shame. Even if we did not experience overt neglect or abuse, an environment of consistent misattunement accretes in the psyche over time, where even subtle traumatic organization can take root and flower. Yes, these narratives and feeling states have their origin in the past. But they must be maintained in the present to stay alive. This is a liberating discovery as while we cannot change the past, we can reorganize perception in the here and now. This is not easy, and requires the capacity to tolerate, contain, and integrate the underlying anxiety that these beliefs, feelings, and behaviors helped to keep us out of. Though we may genuinely wish to transform our experience, we simultaneously remain invested in certain ways of thinking and feeling, in order to maintain the protective function they have served. As painful as this is, it has adaptively kept us away psychic experience that threatened to take us down. We must discover to what degree we still require this protection, or whether it is no longer serving our deeper longing to feel alive, connected, intimate, and free. To what degree it is keeping us out of life, out of full embodied participation in the magnificence of the human form. We cant just tear the old organization down in one great enlightenment experience, think our way out of it, or manifest it away in five quick steps. It happens slowly, by way of the activity of love. As always, just what this love is cannot be revealed to you by another, but only by way of a secret language that has been placed inside you, awaiting your discovery. It is by way of attunement to this whisper that the poetry of new life will flow. Art by alto2

08.01.2022 What a fantastic session we had yesterday learning how to make water kefir from Tom Rothesey from Celestial Roots. He showed us how to do the 2 fermentation processes and then how to incorporate flavours and beneficial roots and herbs for health reasons. Thanks so much Tom and The Happy Frog #celeatialroots #thehappyfrog #healthycommunity #sharingknowledge

03.01.2022 So beautiful. I love the threads that connect us and the way that we can touch each others hearts in big ways and small ways.

03.01.2022 Cortisol the stress hormone can create much damage in the body when elevated for extended periods of time. Unfortunately this is what many of us experience in this modern world. what a beautiful way to bring down your cortisol levels and take care of your body and mind.

01.01.2022 Hi Friends, I am working with an amazing group of ladies to bring this event together for the community. We are passionate about opening up the conversation around mental illness in our community. To see that each person is unique and that together we can create more space and more compassion for the challenges that each of us face. The story tellers have been working for weeks on crafting their story that they would like to share and learning acting skills to be able to deli...ver their stories with confidence. As you can imagine this is a big thing for them to undertake. They have been shaped by external pressures not to speak out, to keep their pain inside. These stories are powerful, will tug at your heart strings and touch your soul. The people sharing their stories are fighters, they are strong, resilient and fighting a very tough battle. We hope that you can come along and support them. The tickets are free you just need to register so we know you are coming for catering purposes. See you there. Thanks Karen Plumbe
