02.01.2022 Side Plank Pose - Vasisthasana. Benefits: Side Plank is a great pose for strengthening and toning the arms, core and legs. It also helps you develop your balance, improve focus and concentration. Instructions:... 1. Start in Plank Pose, pressing firmly through your hands with your shoulders aligned over your wrists. 2. Keeping your core muscles and legs engaged, roll both your heels to the left. 3. Stack your right foot on top of the left. 4. Draw your legs together and push out through the feet. 5. Press down through the left hand raise right arm to reach towards the sky. Keep your lower belly engaged and your tailbone long. 6. Look up towards your hand, or ahead of you. 7. Build up to stay in the pose for 5 breaths. To come out, exhale as you lower your right hand and pivot your feet back to Plank position. Repeat on the other side. Variations: Other variations of the pose include keeping both feet on the ground - top foot in front, or lowering the knee to rest on the ground or lowering your elbow towards the ground, balancing on your elbow and forearm.
