A new office of disability will be established by the end of 2020, and people with disability, their families and car...ers, the disability sector, agencies and interested parties are invited to help determine its role and functions. See below for information on the consultations happening in the south west. The Department of Communities (Communities) will lead the establishment of the new disability office, which aims to: - provide strategic leadership, advice and advocacy to influence government and the Western Australian community to transform and enable disability services reform - have an outward focus to build an inclusive Western Australia and to grow and strengthen the disability sector and workforce promote a more inclusive and equitable WA, where people with disability are enabled to participate fully in their community - reinforce the State Government’s ongoing commitment to deliver better outcomes for people with disability. Establishment of an office within Communities is a key priority for the agency, which is seeking to improve service responses and ensure that people with disability have their voices heard and their needs addressed. The WA disability landscape is changing rapidly and there is a need for the State Government to adapt to continue its proud history of fostering positive outcomes for the 411,500 people living with disability across the State.
