22.01.2022 Next week is Road Safety Week.... so if you haven’t already, set your phone to Do Not Disturb for when you are driving. Keeping your eyes on the road is essential for safe driving. But when you look at your phone, you’re oblivious to what’s around you. In fact at 50km per hour, even a 4 second glance at your phone means you travel almost 50 metres blind. What will you miss? #NoDistraction3280 What you can do to avoid distracted driving?... Install the do not disturb function on your phone Put your phone out of reach Turn your phone on silent or off completely As a passenger, speak up and encourage others to be safe Purchase a blue-tooth

21.01.2022 FREE ONLINE SPEAKER - JANE GILMORE - 'FIXED IT' Thursday 3 December - 6.30pm Jane Gilmore started fixing headlines to reflect the truth, after reading one in 2014 which said "Man jailed for killing ex-girlfriend's goldfish after break-up", where in fact he'd stalked & threatened her for a year, and was not jailed nor charged for killing a fish. Since then, Jane has gone on to continue to fix the headlines of media and pushing back in an attempt to stop the constant erasure of... violent men and the blaming of innocent victims when reporting. At this special online event, Jane will speak about her book, Fixed It, where she tackles the violence and the representation of women in the media, and speaks out about how we talk about the epidemic of gendered violence in this country. Register at the link https://bit.ly/2V0jRSM to attend - it's free (and via Zoom) - we hope to see you there! Presented as part of the 16 Days of Activism by Warrnambool City Council and South West Healthcare.

07.01.2022 There is a clothesline in the windows of the Lighthouse Theatre... Well there is a very important reason! Last year South West Healthcare, Emma House and WRAD worked together on a project for 2019 16 Days of Activism. They partnered with local services, agencies and members of our community to hold workshops across the South West to decorate t-shirts with the theme of ‘Call it Out’- which seeks to call out the harmful words, actions and behaviours that enable and drive gend...er-based violence. This year they're displayed in a covid-safe way in the windows of the Lighthouse Theatre. You may even spot a few smaller Clothesline displays around the town. #16dayswarrnambool #16daysofactivism #MirrorMirror3280 #ReflectRespect #ReflectKindness #community #connection #mirrormirror3280 #reflectrespect #reflectkindness #respect #warrnambool #respectfulrelationships #listening #sharing #parents #mentalhealthawareness #hearforeachother #letstalkfoundation #connect3280
