25.01.2022 If you have employees and set them goals for the year, you need to be more flexible when assessing their performance during this difficult period. Some points for you to consider: 1. Don't expect to assess performance on what was agreed at the start of the year. Lesson - Review goals regularly and adjust accordingly and look at individual and team contributions made over hard individual performance measures. 2. Use your check in conversations to also focus on well-being than ...just performance. Adjust the frequency of check ins to ensure your employees feel supported, recognise and celebrate employee contributions made under these difficult circumstances. 3. Focus on short term prioritisation of work that is relevant rather than long term goals that will invariably change during this period. Its important to set realistic and achievable tasks to maintain employee engagement and motivation. If you need to develop a more flexible approach to wards setting goals and measuring employee performance, contact us for a chat.

22.01.2022 Attention everyone who employs staff on an award! Minimum wages for a group of awards increase from 1 November. Don't get caught out underpaying your staff! Check the following on the Fair Work Website https://calculate.fairwork.gov.au/ to see if you need to adjust your employees pay. A friendly reminder from https://connesso.com.au

21.01.2022 A great article on the changing focus of leadership. People are looking for leaders to help them to deal with the uncertainties that we are currently going through. The shift from the managerial aspects of leadership to higher order capabilities that require leaders to be more authentic and empathetic are now more important than ever. Many leaders due to COVID-19 have an increased layer of complexity by leading a dispersed workforce still coming to grips working remotely. Leaders need to be more self aware when engaging with their employees and actively listen to their employees to really understand how to best support them in these times. We can help leaders get an insight into where you need to focus more on and gain greater insight into your people's needs. Come and have a chat with us.

12.01.2022 I have developed a Small Business HR Starter Pack service to an increasing number of requests for a supported HR Solution that would suit a Small Business. The Small Business HR Starter Pack is ideal for small businesses that are starting out but need help setting up the basic HR Processes. It provides the support needed for a small business that have little to no knowledge of how to recruit and manage staff. See our website for details. https://connesso.com.au//small-business-hr-starter-pack.pdf

09.01.2022 A short read for those serious about providing a safe work environment for staff in any sized business.

09.01.2022 Some good advice for small businesses that lack support when trying to comply with workplace laws. Unfortunately ignorance of the rules is not an acceptable defence. Non-compliance can not only hurt you financially but also damage your business image. The Fair Work Ombudsman website is a great resource to use if you need help understanding pay rates, award agreements, etc. We can also help through an audit of your people processes. 08.01.2022 Some great advice with a reasonable approach to follow when handling this situation that many businesses find themselves in

07.01.2022 Interesting article about using incentives to reward performance. Key takeaway here is to have a balanced approach towards any incentive scheme to ensure you are recognising and rewarding the right behaviours along with achievement of targets. "How" you achieve is just as important of "what" you achieve. Its important to ensure your desired culture is not undermined by an incentive system that counters the values and behaviours you are trying to promote. https://www.hcamag.com//are-you-rewarding-the-righ/146378
