24.01.2022 Exciting news! I have been issued my Visa and I have permission to fly out of Australia. My flight is booked for 28th December, 2020 with classes commencing 11th January, 2021, I cannot wait to start this next chapter and I am eager to absorb all that College has to offer. I am not sure if that means I am still Class of 2020 though!
22.01.2022 My journey begins. Thanks for your support and encouragement.
21.01.2022 I am excited to join the Frontier Bobcats, a DIV 1 Junior College in Illinois. College baseball has been a dream of mine for many years and now the countdown to August begins. Thank you to Charles Thompson and Lynn Spence for your belief in me. Thanks Ryan Rowland-Smith and Trent Oeltjen for giving me the opportunity to play in front of so many respected Coaches and Scouts. Thank you to Bruce Wood for recognising my strengths and convincing me to be a pitcher. I have been lucky to have so many good coaches at East Belmont Saints and Geelong Baycats. Thanks Mum & Dad (Sharon & Sean) for all you have done, now it is time to start saving Thank you all for following me.

12.01.2022 One of my earliest childhood memories is running around the bases with my Dad after he had just finished a game. Yet my love for the game was slow to develop. My Parents signed me up for t-ball when I was 5 and I didn’t last long. I didn’t want to train and practice, I only wanted to run the bases so I hated it. But my Parents persisted and signed me up again when I was 10. There began my love of the game. I was always sent to the outfield and I hated it, I thought that was... where the bad players were sent. I learnt that I was good at it and tracking the ball off the bat and catching it takes skill and athleticism. I soon discovered that there was a huge rush after taking a catch in the outfield then throwing the ball home to make an amazing play. But I wanted to have a bigger impact on the game so I started Catching. Boy did I suck at blocking. So I then turned my skills to Pitching. I felt at home on the mound. I loved the bond between the catcher and myself and the secret language we shared with signals. But the strike zone was a mystery to me, I couldn’t always find it. I knew it was there somewhere, some days it was easy to find but on other days. I didn’t grow up with the right surname or a Dad as a coach. I never stood out in a group of other players but I always tried. I made local representative teams every year but never achieved what I had hoped to. I made an unflattering first impression on my first Senior Coach (while I was still playing Junior’s). I spent the rest of that season changing his mind about me, I needed to prove that I was serious about my baseball and valued everything he taught me. I worked hard to better myself as a player. I would go home and throw a baseball against the brick wall of our house to the point where we needed to call someone in to repair it. I would swing a bat while watching my reflection in the windows so that I could ensure I created correct muscle memory. Even while talking to my friends at school or family at home I would have an imaginary bat or ball in my hand that I would swing or pitch. Now I am part of the Under 18 Victorian State team who are Australian Champions. I have learnt that I am a good player and a good person. I love to share my skills and knowledge with others and playing with team mates that all share the same love. We learn and grow from each other. We are better people because of the game. Thanks to my Parents persistence I have discovered what I was meant to do. For me there is no greater place in the world than standing on a baseball diamond surrounded by my team mates. Now after a game I run the bases with my 6 year old sister, sharing with her my love of the game. See more
