25.01.2022 Glyphosate is roundup. Our government tells us it is safe. However non biased research (that which is NOT paid by the company who owns the product glyphosate) reveals otherwise. That it acts on our body like an antibiotic. Bad news is that WE are mostly bacteria. Everyday every meal we are eating, drinking food which has had this product put on it in the farming/growing process. Wheat especially is a big culprit here....one of the reasons people have become so intolerant to it. Be mindful where your own views on life and products are being sponsored by. Glyphosate should not be in our food or on our lawns (for our poor pets).
24.01.2022 Anyone in the Canberra area needing/wanting/curious regarding the health of their dwelling? Is perhaps your home making you sick? Jeanette is a great building biologist who will assess the health of your home. I recommend her services for those with chronic fatigue syndromes, pain syndromes, any illnesses that may have started since moving to a home? Any chronic inflammatory condition.
24.01.2022 An offering from Dr Arielle Schwartz which I highly recommend - and will be registering myself. It is 4am Sydney time, however you can purchase before or after and watch and practice in your own time. An experiential workshop to understand which movements and practices can regulate and act like a balm to your Vagus Nerve. This is the nerve that travels from our brain stem and passes through the belly, diaphragm, lungs, throat, inner ear and facial muscles. It has a key r...ole in our body's second nervous system called the enteric nervous system (in our gut). It's nerve fibers in the stomach & intestines not only regulate digestion, peristalsis and elimination but also produce the same neurotransmitters found in your brain. 80% of these nerve fibers then travel from the body back to the brain. This explains why we can't just THINK our way out of reactivity or high stress, and we must work with our body to maximise soothing and calm. So any physical symptoms associated with those systems or organs can be regulated through understanding what this nerve needs and practicing specific yoga practices (and breathing) which can support this mind-body feedback loop - to support you to feel "refreshed, empowered and calm".
22.01.2022 Some handy tips when you choose to give up sugar...
22.01.2022 One of my favorite topics too... Even a slight neck/jaw misalignment can cause havoc on the whole nervous system and gut. Check this out if you’re interested...
21.01.2022 So very relevant for this time... self regulation through the wisdom of the body.
20.01.2022 Imbalances in your hormones are triggered by bad food. If you eat sugar, you’ll produce more insulin, more estrogen, and more testosterone. Any type of fl...our and sugar can lead to these imbalances. Dairy and gluten are often triggers for inflammation and hormonal imbalances. Xenobiotics or environmental chemicals like pesticides in our food can act like powerful hormone disruptors and trigger our own hormones to go out of balance. We know that sugar, caffeine, alcohol, stress, and lack of exercise all contribute to worse PMS and all hormonal imbalances including menopause. After removing the bad stuff, you will want to replace it with good stuff. Eat a whole, real, unprocessed, organic, mostly plant-based diet with organic or sustainably raised animal products. When you focus on this type of diet, you minimize intake of xenoestrogens, hormones, and antibiotics. Taking simple steps like choosing organic food and drinking filtered water can hugely impact hormone balance. Getting good quality sleep every night and exercising regularly can help balance your hormones. Along with supplementing with Omega-3, vitamin D3, B vitamins, magnesium, and probiotics. See more
19.01.2022 I just love this book - I seem to be recommending it to everyone this year. When things Fall Apart. I read it over 15 years ago...when things seemed like they were falling apart in my world....little did I know they were falling together. And it’s so relevant to this year in the here and now!
18.01.2022 Resourcing using the wisdom and calm of our body, when the narrative of our mind becomes unsafe...
16.01.2022 And we (australia) are still using it and telling people it is safe
16.01.2022 My husband has started to study permaculture as a hobby. I’m loving vicariously learning through him. Diversity in our environment and soil means diversity in our gut and health. Glyphosate/roundup is legal in Australia. It has been banned elsewhere. It causes cancer and gut microbiome dysbiosis and acts like an antibiotic on your gut. Halting diversity. We eat it on our food and we play on it in our public parks and golf courses. I believe it’s time to start asking questions closer to home. A good read and to consider talking to your local council. Just because something is legal and part of our normal doesn’t mean it’s safe and sane.
16.01.2022 A lovely way to strongly support your nervous system is to hum or Om. The Yogis for an eternity knew this...we now have our science to support their old wisdom. A short practice from a trauma informed psychotherapist to help your day or week...
15.01.2022 Think of magnesium as the relaxation mineral. Anything that is tight, irritable, crampy, and stiff whether it is a body part or an even a mood is a sign of ...magnesium deficiency. This critical mineral is actually responsible for over 300 enzyme reactions and is found in all of your tissues but mainly in your bones, muscles, and brain. You must have it for your cells to make energy, for many different chemical pumps to work, to stabilize membranes, and to help muscles relax. The reason we are so deficient is simple: Many of us eat a diet that contains practically no magnesium a highly-processed, refined diet that is based mostly on white flour, meat, and dairy (all of which have no magnesium). When was the last time you had a good dose of sea vegetables (seaweed), nuts, greens, and beans? If you are like most Americans, your nut consumption mostly comes from peanut butter, and mostly in chocolate peanut butter cups. Much of modern life conspires to help us lose what little magnesium we do get in our diet. Magnesium levels are decreased by excess alcohol, salt, coffee, phosphoric acid in colas, profuse sweating, prolonged or intense stress, chronic diarrhea, excessive menstruation, diuretics (water pills), antibiotics and other drugs, and some intestinal parasites. If you’re going to incorporate a magnesium supplement, the most absorbable forms are magnesium citrate, glycinate taurate, or aspartate, although magnesium bound to Kreb cycle chelates (malate, succinate, fumarate) are also good. 14.01.2022 This touched me today... hopefully you may find some peace in reading these words also.
14.01.2022 We often don’t consider this reality. That our own health (and our gut microbiome diversity and therefore resilience and health) is directly an extension to our immediate environment. Where do you live? What quality of nature to do touch? Any? What quality air do you breath? Where has your food been grown? If you eat meat...what quality of food did the animal eat, or water did they drink? Of course all this takes more effort to consider when coming back to health- but the alternative is bandaiding.
12.01.2022 Source: @crazyheadcomics via instagram Feeling bad but don’t know why? Image description: drawing of a person with a fringed bob covering their face with their ...hands. Text surrounds the drawing and reads feeling bad but don’t know why? As yourself: how was my sleep? Have I properly nourished my body today? How is my social media intake? How are the people around me affecting me? How am I doing with hygiene and cleanliness? What am I putting my energy into? What is the tone of my self-talk? Is there a source of stress, or something weighing on me? What is my mind craving, what is my heart wishing for? Do I need some rest? See more
11.01.2022 Organic roast chicken last night and tonight as it’s cold and rainy...easy vegetable and chicken soup (as you can see, mostly veggies). Made a quick stock with the carcass and added a little of the left over roast chicken to a stack of vegetables including immune supporting shiitake mushrooms, anti- inflammatory ginger, sulfur containing and detoxing garlic, leak, and onion. I’ll be drenching my serve in heart healthy cold pressed virgin olive oil. Easy, comforting, yummy and immune supporting.
11.01.2022 Everyone needs to take magnesium- unless you...have a perfect diet, never eat junk food, never drink alcohol, never feel stressed, don’t have any chronic health conditions, have totally balanced hormones, sleep great. And due to Australia soil having very low magnesium...our food is naturally low in this mineral. So best to supplement
07.01.2022 Something most (I’d dare to say all) my chronic fatigue clients, auto-immune, and of course allergy/asthma people have in common....Exposure to water damaged building materials either at home, work or car. Unfortunately also something that was a huge causation in my own experience of chronic illness/fatigue. A great short interview from Nicole Bijlsma on tips for prevention. ... Talk to me if you want to know more.
07.01.2022 With so much change for our nervous systems to calibrate AGAIN to...in Sydney and especially northern beaches... sending love to those who may need it in this moment
03.01.2022 This seems worthy of a share. This bakery is 100% gluten free and is based in East Sydney and CBD....but now has some stock in Harris farm stores. Yay!!!
03.01.2022 Topic: eating disorders A great organization in Sydney is The Butterfly Foundation. Anyone with disordered eating or has a loved one who they are worried about and who may have an eating disorder- consider getting educated by contacting these people. These people are kind and generous with their support and knowledge. I had hoped to add a video of them speaking about this, alas my FB skills are challenged
02.01.2022 A great FB page to follow for parents of young kids or teens... ...or even those of us who are in the adventure of re-parenting ourselves due to early life attachment ruptures/mis-attuned care givers. This page is like a knowledgeable aunt or elder...
02.01.2022 Something for all of us to remember (and regress toward)...for health.
