25.01.2022 Here at Consortium Racing we have continued to live our mission which is "To keep TZ750s on the Worlds Racetracks". We have begun to ship our 2016 run of engine cases and are ready to start shipping the new gearshift forks - in fact two sets have already left for New Zealand! They come complete with cam-follower pins and are supplied in complete sets. We expect our new water pump inlet housings to be machined next week and be ready for shipment in the first week of September.

23.01.2022 Replica TZ750 Mikuni Alloy Throttle Slides We are planning a one-time run of 24 hard anodised aluminium alloy throttle slides to fit the Mikuni VM34 series of carburettors to replace the worn out units on our own bikes. These are replicas of the original TZ750 lightweight slides fitted by Yamaha to all their factory and series production race bikes. The currently available brass slides fitted to Mikuni Carburettors result in a very heavy throttle feel which increases rider... fatigue over longer races, reduces the riders ability to make fine throttle inputs and increases the weight of the bike. These new slides will fit the TZ750 and TZ350 VM34 carburettors. The price will be just AUD$85 each and when they are gone, thats it. Please let me know if you are interested in a set and we will add your order to our run. You can let me know though Facebook or by email to [email protected] See more

22.01.2022 STROKERS TO FEATURE AT EASTERN CREEK Only 4 more days to go before the start of the 2018 International Festival of Speed at Sydney Motorsport Park (Eastern Creek). There will be 5 races over the weekend exclusively for 2-Stroke GP bikes which is expected to bring out some of the fastest TZ750s in Australasia and some of the rarer RG500s and Armstrong Rotax 350s plus a horde of ubiquitous TZ350s. It should be quite a packed field and a rare sight (and sound) for lovers of ...real 70s race bikes with the angry crackle of expansion chambers, the rattle of dry clutches and the familiar blue smoke hanging over the start line. That alone should be worth the price of admission! Some of the legends taking to the track over the three day program include Franky Chili, Jeremy McWilliams (How can he be so damn fast at the age of 54?), Steve Stavros Parrish, Alan Cathcart, Troy Corser, Chris Vermeulen, Kevin Magee and the age-defying Troy Bayliss who at age 49 has shown he is still amongst the very fastest Superbike racers in Australia. Consortium Racings Craig Ditchburn will be there with his beautifully prepared Yamaha TZ750. This bike has been built by his famous father, Barry who is well known as one of the leading TZ750 engineers in the country. Consortium Racing has supplied engine cases and other engine parts to many of the competitors and we wish them all a fun and successful weekend. I hope to see you there.

22.01.2022 INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF SPEED Day 2 of the race meeting has been a successful day for Consortium Racing with Craig Ditchburn scoring a second place and a win in the 2-Stroke invitational. The fast-starting Gosford Classic Cars rider, Michael Blair was hounded home for two second places in the P5 750 events by Craig despite Craig posting faster lap times. The attached photos show Steve Parrish dropping by to say hello to his old mate Barry Ditchburn, Frankie Chili admiring Julian Hardys TZ750 and a movie clip of the Craigs bike being readied in the pit garage.

22.01.2022 Machining Update Kevin is making great progress on the last batch of five TZ750 engine cases. The rough machining on the upper and lower halves is almost complete and the main assembly holes will be drilled and tapped early next week. The two halves can then be doweled and bolted together in readiness for the boring operations that locate the various gearbox shafts and crank mains. There is perhaps another 40 to 50 hours of work remaining and we expect to have these ready to ship in the first week of April. It is wonderful to think that we are helping to breathe life into 5 more of these magnificent machines.

22.01.2022 CONSORTIUM RACING LAUNCHES CRANKSHAFT REBUILD SERVICE For the last 5 years we have been manufacturing and supplying TZ750 spares such as engine cases, transmission housings, gear selector drums and fork sets, water pump housings and exhaust systems for the full TZ model range. Today we have launched a crankshaft rebuild service that will be run by famed two-stroke builder, Barry Ditchburn. Worn main seals can lead to low power outputs and engine seizures. Broken con-rods can destroy your precious engine cases and worn bearings are a further risk to power output and engine damage. If you have a race bike or just a classic streetbike in need of a crank rebuild, drop us a line.

21.01.2022 A good friend of Consortium Racing (Brett) came second in the 2016 Australian Historic Championships in Period 5 - 250cc class on his almost stock RD250LC. He beat off the TZ250 Yamahas on the technical Simons Plains track to show his considerable skill. Those Armstrong Rotax 250s are just in a different class however. Brett is now looking for a Rotax or Yamaha TZ pre Dec 31st 1980 and will consider importing from anywhere in the world. If you know of a competitive bike that might suit, please send me a message. Thanks, Gary

20.01.2022 25th International Island Classic Here is the view from the back of our Pit Box on Saturday morning. Craig Ditchburn was the fastest TZ through the speed trap on every session and led all the other TZs home in both International Challenge races yesterday. Most of the riders in front of Craig were ex-internationals such as Corser, Edwards, Martin, McWilliams, (and he is seriously fast!!), Johnson etc and mounted on very hot 1300s. Each year the Barry Ditchburn built TZ750s impress fellow competitors and spectators alike with their beautiful presentation and reliable speed. We are hoping for a trouble-free day today and a great final day of the International Challenge. Thank you to all those competitors who make the long journey down to Australia each year to make this one of the most exciting classic race meetings in the word.

18.01.2022 WATER PUMP HOUSINGS ARE FINALLY HERE! At last, after several changes to the castings and two trial machining runs we are finally happy with our TZ750 water pump housings. This is once-off small batch run and we are pleased to continue to live our mission of keeping Yamaha TZ750s on the worlds racetracks. Below is a photo of the final product. Also with a set of new shift forks ready to pack and send to Derek in Canada who is also the owner of a set of Consortium Racing engine cases. They will leave today, Derek. Enjoy!

17.01.2022 INTERNATIONAL ISLAND CLASSIC 2017 The 24th running of the AMCN International Island Classic will be held from the 27th to the 29th of January and the English team looks stronger than ever. New recruit, Peter Hickman joins regulars Jeremy McWilliams, Conor Cummins, John McGuinness, Glen Richards and James Hillier with Keith Higgs as the riding captain. Consortium Racings Craig Ditchburn will once again be riding the beautifully prepared and always fast Barry Ditchburn-buil...t TZ750 in the English line-up. Craig will also campaign the incredible Ditchburn-built Seeley Broad Yamaha 500 triple in the P4 500 class. Fast but sometimes fragile, this machine took Craig to the P4 lap record around Philip Island which he held until the exotic Paton 500 ridden by David Johnson stole the show in 2012. This year Craig will face stiff competition from Cam Donald and Levi Day (both on Egli Vincents) and Tom Bramich on the Ron Angel Paton. The Aussie team has been strengthened with the inclusion of Chas Hern riding the T-Rex Racing Harris F1 machine prepared by team captain, Rex Wolfenden. Chas will join regulars, Shawn Giles, Jed Metcher, Cam Donald, Scott Webster, Steve Martin and Beau Beaton. Multi-Australian Champion, John Allen will again campaign the Terry McKinnon TZ750 joined by new recruit, Alex Phillis. Looking at the entry list for this meeting, I count thirteen TZ750s if we include the sidecars so there should be plenty to excite the senses. Eight of these have Consortium Racing Engine cases and we are proud to be helping keep Yamahas TZ750s on the worlds racetracks. Below are photos of Damian Mackies beautiful Lectron Carburetted engine newly built with Consortium Racing cases, the Seeley Yamaha 3 and The Ditchburn-built TZ750 that Craig will be campaigning at the Island Classic. Our thanks to AMCN for the use of their photo and for again hosting this great event. For more info http://islandclassic.com.au See more

17.01.2022 Reborn TZ750 Martin Halliwell of Luxembourg bought Consortium Racing engine case set 16 and a new gearshift drum just in time for Christmas last year and engaged the help of expert engine builder, Roger Owen of the IOM who spent the remainder of winter and spring rebuilding his beautiful TZ750 ready for the summer season. Below you can see the pictorial story of the careful rebuild and eventual rebirth of his magnificent TZ750 running with a newly refreshed engine. Thanks for sharing these photos, Martin and enjoy your (almost) new TZ750.

14.01.2022 ALMOST THERE The 2016 run of TZ750 engine cases has been machined and will leave the workshop on Monday. Next step is to have them Vacuum Impregnated to seal up any pinhole porosity before fitting the oil gallery welsh plugs, debur and pack. We did a run of 10 sets this year and of these 7 have been pre-sold. The photo below shows them lined up in the Milspec Manufacturing machine shop ready for crating and shipment to our Vac Impregnation partner. It will be another month before we begin shipping to our customers and we wish to thank you all for your patience.

14.01.2022 Consortium Racing member, Craig Ditchburn has just released new reproduction crankcase end seals to suit the Yamaha TZ750. These have a pressed steel backing plate with the body moulded from a modern fuel and heat resistant elastomer. We have the first pair up and running on the Consortium Racing TZ750 and have experience no problems reports Craig. Please contact either Consortium Racing or Craig Ditchburn at [email protected] for further information. Price will be AUD$165 per pair plus postage costs.

13.01.2022 Here at Consortium Racing, we exist to support TZ750 race bikes and their owners, not make comment on current events. However, we are so saddened by the tragic bicycle accident of Nicky Hayden and Red Bull Hondas recent announcement that I hope you will forgive us for expressing our grief, and respectful condolences to his family at this time. Nicky was one of the "Good Guys" of the racing paddock. A MotoGP World Champion and one of lifes champions, Nicky was respected by all his peers for his loyalty, honesty, hard work and talent. In a sport dominated by politics, innuendo, and intense rivalries, Nicky somehow remained above all that. He was what we Aussies call "a good bloke". He will be missed by millions of race fans who, like me, will be mourning his passing.

13.01.2022 For some reason the photos didnt post Try these

12.01.2022 Peter from Motos Schwegler, Switzerland has just received case-set number 22 and was so excited to unwrap it. His daughter, Brigitte sent me these photos with the following note: The engine case arrived safely yesterday !!! This morning, Peter unpacked ithe felt like on Christmas day. We will keep you up to date about the re-build! Peter, we hope you enjoy the re-build and look forward to seeing some photos to share with other enthusiasts. All the best, Gary

12.01.2022 TZ750 for Sale It is with sadness that Team Ditchburn / Consortium Racing are forced to sell one of our spare TZ750s. This Barry Ditchburn built replica is arguably amongst the fastest race bikes of its kind in Australia. Ex Grand Prix rider, Paul Young rode this bike in the 2015 Island Classic and it has done little work since, serving as one of three spares to Craig Ditchburns main race bike. As we are unlikely to expand the team to two riders in the near future, this bike is surplus to our needs and we would like to see it go to someone who will put it on the racetrack where it belongs. See https://vimeo.com/153639402 Initial enquiries to Gary Kerr at [email protected]

11.01.2022 Al Wilton writes "Out finally getting some miles on my Consortium Racing cases! Great shake down and going great."

10.01.2022 Master Machinist, Kevin Poynter is reaching the finishing stages of this final batch of five TZ750 engine cases. One of the last processes will be to drill the oil-feed holes for the main bearings on the Haas machining centre. We expect this to occur on Tuesday next week and the four cases that have been sold will be de-burred and packed ready to be shipped to their new owners.

10.01.2022 The editor of Japanese Two-Stroke magazine, Takeshi Goto, flew out to Australia to interview the people behind Consortium Racing and see for himself how we go about manufacturing the TZ750 engine cases. We started by meeting the craftsmen at Kelgrif Patterns to see the molds and patterns that we use in the casting process. Next day we went to the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit so that Takeshi could test ride the Team Ditchburn/Consortium Racing TZ750. This was a nervou...s time for the team as Takeshi had not previously ridden this circuit and asked me is the track clockwise or counter-clockwise? The weather was kind to us and the sun shone all day although the temperature struggled to reach double digits. Takeshi turned out be a very competent rider who in just 3 sessions managed to shred the rear tire on a cold track. I cant wait to see the magazine article even if I cant read Japanese. Below are a few of the photos I took on the day. See more

09.01.2022 The final batch of cases have been completed and two were packed and despatched yesterday to two very happy TZ750 owners. The last three have been sold pending payment. Any future runs will be decided on pre-ordering and our machinists availability.

09.01.2022 25th PHILLIP ISLAND INTERNATIONAL CLASSIC 2018 The Consortium Racing team have been busy in the lead up to the 25th running of the Phillip Island International Classic with talented bike builder, Barry Ditchburn currently completing bike preparation in time for the 25th running of the event. Barrys bikes are always beautifully turned out and Consortium Racing is proud to be associated with the Ditchburn team. The 2018 event will be huge with the evergreen Jeremy McWilliams... returning and the added excitement of seeing Colin Edwards and Troy Corser taking to the track once again. In 2017, Craig won the P4 500cc class on his replica Seeley Yamaha after a weekend-long battle with Tommy Bramich on the exotic and very fast Paton 500 of Team Angel. This year Craig will once again campaign his Consortium Racing TZ750 and his Seeley Yamaha 500 and we are looking forward to the event. In the 3 photos below we have Craig on his Seeley Yamaha 500, Tony and Matt working on the 750 and a Consortium Racing team photo comprising from L to R Tony, Gary, David, Craig, Matt and Barry. See http://islandclassic.com.au/island-classic-home for more information. See more

08.01.2022 At Consortium Racing we are continuing to live our mission of "Keeping Yamaha TZ750s on the Worlds Racetracks". We have just released these sand cast aluminium transmission covers, fully machined to accept the original tacho cable drive and satin black powder coated. The original oil filler thread was challenging as there are no thread taps available so we machined it to original spec by "interpolation" on our machining centre. They look fantastic and will bolt straight onto your engine with all your original bolts and dowels. Please let us know if you need a new transmission cover for your TZ 750.

07.01.2022 Photos below of one of the beautiful Consortium Racing TZ750 engine cases being packed ready for shipment to its new owner in Switzerland later today. With 5 layers of bubble wrap, three layers of tri-walled corrugated top and bottom and extra reinforcement on the crank ends, I am sure it will arrive safely next week. Peter, we hope you like your new engine cases and will look forward to seeing some photos of your re-build.

07.01.2022 Last week I visited famed motorcycle chassis builder, Denis Curtis in his CMR Canada workshop and saw some of the work he is capable of. He has 3 TZ 750 frames in the rack awaiting sale and a TR750 fresh out of the jig getting its finishing touches. Shown below is CMR business partner and master fabricator Byron Cox, Consortium Racings Gary Kerr (centre) and Denis Curtis (right). Thanks for the hospitality guys!

07.01.2022 Master machinist Kevin Pointer has at last decided to hang up his verniers and retire. He has agreed to do one last engine case run of 5 units for us before the end of this year and then its all over. While Kevin goes fishing we sit back and hope that the 42 new TZ750 engine cases we have put back into the world of Classic Racing will live on for another 40 years. We will take advance orders for the final run of these magnificent cases with expected delivery in time for Christmas. Please contact us if you would like to order a set.

05.01.2022 CONSORTIUM RACING REACHES NEW HEIGHTS Our new foundry techniques are paying dividends with the best castings we have ever seen on this latest batch of TZ750 engine cases. Our entire run for 2017 is just 5 case sets and they are simply beautiful! Check out the fine detail on the finning of the lower half and the exquisite top halves shown here awaiting final machining. The video shows rough-machining of the flywheel clearances prior to final boring of the crank main bearing supports. This is the last set we will produce until sometime in late 2018.

04.01.2022 FINAL RUN We have managed to convince Master Machinist, Kevin Poynter to hang up his fishing-rod for three weeks and come back from retirement to machine the final run of engine cases for us. In the past we have manufactured batches of 5 cases on spec and sold them from our stock, however any future decision to continue the project will be dependent on firm customer orders. Of this last batch of 5 engine cases, 4 have been pre-sold. Take a look at these castings, they are ...just beautiful and a credit to Paull Wilson and his team at the RP Metals foundry. We expect them to be finished and ready to ship in the first week of April (unless the fish are biting and we lose Kevin for a week). We will be heading to Sydney Motorsport Park this weekend for the annual running of the International Festival of Speed featuring the second running of the Two-stroke cup for period GP bikes. If you like the smell of two-stroke oil in the air and sharp crackle of highly tuned GP bikes from yesteryear, come and join us at Eastern Creek. See more

04.01.2022 International Island Classic The International Island Classic has been run at the beautiful Phillip Island Circuit and this year Team USA fielded its strongest ever team. Team USAs Josh Hayes and Jason Pridmore showed that they have lost little of their impressive speed or daring in the years since they last raced professionally. The UK team was sorely missed, however Team New Zealand did a good job in rounding out an impressive field. Australia won the team event from th...e USA while Aussie, Steve Martin took out individual honours with the prestigious Ken Wooton Trophy. Consortium Racings Craig Ditchburn was the first two-stroke home in each event, with nothing smaller than 1200cc ahead of him. Craig also won the 4-race Unlimited Forgotten Era Premier class ahead of TZ750 rider, Marty Craggill and Justin Mellerick. Interestingly, Craggills bike, owned by Phil Andrea also utilises Consortium Racing reproduction engine cases. With the three team bikes plus tyres, tools, spares and equipment, team members, Craigs wife, daughter, sister and other miscellaneous visitors in the garage, things did a bit congested , however this always gives this a wonderful family event feel. The next event for us will be the Sydney Festival of Speed in March.

03.01.2022 As stated we have only 3 sets of engine cases left available from our 2016 run and if you would like to discuss details, reserve a set or discuss some of the other TZ 750 parts that we have available, please email me at [email protected] I will look forward to hearing from you.

03.01.2022 Good friend of Consortium Racing, Dave Johnson will be using these Consortium Racing engine cases and new Transmission Cover in his latest project which I am sure will be completed shortly. Despatched today and Dave cant wait to get his hands on them.

02.01.2022 And here are the photos

01.01.2022 2017 CRANKCASE RUN COMPLETE Our 2017 run of just five TZ750 engine cases is now complete. I have been in the workshop for the last 8 hours deburring, cleaning, inspecting and just marvelling at this last run of cases. I am so proud of this last batch. The new foundry techniques have paid dividends and the castings are the best we have ever seen. Our machinist (Kevin Poynter) took extra care in his set-up and the results are stunning. Zoom in on the photos and you will see what I mean. Just a reminder, we also have transmission covers, water pump housings, crankcase end seals and gear shift fork sets still available.

01.01.2022 WANTED - TZ750 Gary Dawson from the UK is looking for a TZ750. If you have a complete or a near complete bike please contact Gary at [email protected] 0771 2323031
