25.01.2022 x2 Storey + Basement (under-ground), Office Development - Oakleigh South. The boys usually do a good job of keeping this site clean. Unfortunately for them, my site visit today caught them shotcreting which generally presents sites with all sorts of mess (as outlined in the photos). The progression of this site over the last couple of weeks includes the excavation of the Basement Level (once all the piers have cured) and pouring the strip and pad footings. The boys are curren...tly completing the core-filled blockwork retaining walls and shotcreting the Basement bored piers. Next steps are to pour the Basement Level pavement slab-on-ground, and install the Basement Level structural steel columns and beams.

23.01.2022 The installation of Ground Level slab additional reinforcement, services, concrete step-down edge-forming and Ground Level concrete pour. Next structural elements to go up are the precast concrete panels, Level 1 structural steel work and Level 1 deck.

21.01.2022 Hanna Consulting is an engineering consultancy based in Melbourne, focused on the structural design and documentation for new residential, multi-residential, low-rise commercial and mixed-use construction. We are dedicated to deliver full value to our clients through awareness and understanding of the client and project requirements, by ensuring a holistic approach to all the projects we undertake. The prominent contributing factor to the efficient, viable and buildable solu...tions Hanna Consulting have to offer is the initiation we take in ensuring constant communication throughout every stage of the project with the relevant parties/consultants and personnel involved. The point of difference from other consultants relies in our confidence to push designs to the limit by reducing the amount of bulky structural material in a building, without compromising on the design and service-life of our structures - saving the client construction costs. As we develop our designs at Hanna Consulting, we extensively consider the construction phase of our projects. This ensures a relatively quick and efficient construction time (and cost) for the projects at-hand - e.g. designing lighter composite structures with the use of less formwork, in lieu of conventional, bulky, structural concrete designs (and considering/outlining the relevant ramifications by doing so). A large portion of our service at Hanna Consulting is the on-going support we provide throughout the entire stage of our projects, as we understand many on-site factors contribute to immediate changes of specification during construction. Our flexibility with re-designs ensures the client and contractors have our full support for all our projects from start to finish.

20.01.2022 Specifying and designing the Ferro Deck suspended concrete slab system. The benefits of utilising this system is that it spans for up to 5 metres without the use of back-support or propping during construction. This allows for trades to enter the lower levels and fit-out immediately. Based on the wet-concrete construction loads, concrete impact loads, and trade working loads, the maximum design stresses in each component of these trusses are checked, as well as the overall d...eflection of the panels, to ensure a safe design during construction. The long-term serviceability of these suspended concrete slabs are also designed to ensure a structurally-sound, fit-for-purpose structure during it's entire service-life.

12.01.2022 Some previous projects and involvements designed by us - mainly low-rise residential, with the odd Class 1 and commercial development.

07.01.2022 The installation of the Ground Level structural steel framing at our mixed-use development in Oakleigh South. We have an unconventional, yet efficient way of designing our steel beams in order to reduce the overall size (and cost) of steel beam sections - by compositely encasing them in concrete while pouring the suspended concrete slabs (a method adopted from the Koreans). In a steel structure, suspended concrete slabs are usually supported by the top flange of standard st...ructural steel I-Beams. Stitch-welding structural steel angles to the bottom flanges of standard I-Beam sections (to support the suspended concrete slabs) allows us to form the steel beam sections in concrete, presenting our clients with many advantages such as increasing the overall bending moment and shear capacity (strength) of the steel beams. Other advantages include the reduced overall beam depths (providing additional room for services in the ceiling spaces), minimal fire-rating requirements as most of the section is encased in concrete, as well as a significant increase of the moment of inertia (stiffness) of the sections, reducing the overall projected deflections. A simple increase in the height of the structural steel angles will increase the effective depth of the section, providing us designers with an economical way of increasing the strength and stiffness of the beams to perform their duties during their service-life.

02.01.2022 Shotcrete is concrete (or sometimes mortar) conveyed through a hose and projected at high velocity onto a surface (typically used in under-ground basements), as a construction technique. It is reinforced and held together with the use of conventional steel rods and/or steel mesh.

02.01.2022 Apologies for the lack of posts recently. Progress shots of the retail development at Oakleigh South. First Level suspended concrete slab poured, and ready to support the portal roof frame above. The warehouse structure has been erected and ready for fit-out.
