25.01.2022 This investigation started after a Fremantle couple lodged a complaint with Consumer Protection about a $503 barbecue from onsalemarketdeals dot com that never arrived. We want to stop others losing money. Please SHARE.

24.01.2022 This is another significant example of the arrogance and disrespect consumers have come to expect from the current government. Boards and committees where once consumers had a voice - gone. Alternate dispute resolution via the Building Disputes Tribunal - gone. Bushland all over Perth - gone. Community/consumer consultation - gone unless we spend hours trying to navigate websites designed to deter us or are prepared to be arrested for trying to be heard. Consumer education an...d right to be informed so we don't melt down over precipitous action we just can't fathom - gone or non existent (GM crops, uranium mining, fracking, strip mining our hills, ripping the heart out of our state for corporate profit and short term jobs). Sustainability - gone. Only with immense community effort have we stopped the shark cull and the James Price Point desecration. Award winning students and volunteers betrayed. That's just for starters..... add your own below. Our government must listen and respond to its consumers or be - gone. See more

23.01.2022 The Full Federal Court has upheld our appeal against the penalty imposed on Reckitt Benckiser for making misleading claims about its Nurofen specific pain products. Reckitt Benckiser has been ordered to pay a revised penalty of $6 million (up from $1.7 million).

23.01.2022 WA is in the process of doing something similar. Yet to see how the cost to consumers will compare with "junk" Home Indemnity Insurance.

22.01.2022 We renovated with Stylish Extensions in Joondalup in 2012. We were forced to pay the final payment as advised by the building commission as he convinced them he... would actually finish the job and rectify all the faulty works. He didnt. We went to SAT, who ruled in our favour (the builder didnt turn up to the hearing). It is going to cost $141,000 to rectify. The builder didnt pay. SAT and the building Commission cant enforce anything. We went to the District Court. He claimed personally bankruptcy. His business is not insolvent so we cant claim insurance. He will not push for insolvency as it will cost him. We have 6 years to claim. It is up in April 2018, with a cap of $100K. We have already like to many lost 10's of thousands trying to get justice. We can force him into insolvency with lengthy court hearings and a cost of $30K. Today we decided we need to refinance our home and then sell, we can't afford the double repayments. Does anyone have any advice or been through similar? The builder is now working as a supervisor for another building company is perth earning $100K per year. Seem fair?? See more

21.01.2022 500 containers = $50. What a way to make a living, not to mention the effects on the health and self esteem of people on low incomes going through other people'...s bins. The cost of beverages will rise not just by the amount of the refund. Consumers will also have to pay for the reverse vending infrastructure and wages for the people managing the machines and the new system. Recyclables will still go into road base or be shipped overseas. How about we either increase welfare or employ the aforementioned people to collect all forms of litter, not just the limited kinds of containers included in the new system and give them the appropriate clothing and tools for the job instead. As far as changing behaviour, I expect the "usual suspects" to not be concerned with a 10c refund and ditch beer bottles out of car windows as usual. Don't just knee jerk react to this ("it's been working in SA for ever so it must be the tits") but think of all the implications. The survey on this page first asks if you're in favour. If you say no, it asks what you like best about the programme - grrr. See more

19.01.2022 Last week we named 20 WA stores that had been selling potentially deadly USB plug-in chargers or travel adapters (http://www.commerce.wa.gov.au//wa-stores-sell...ing-dangerous). There could still be unsafe devices for sale in the West Australian marketplace (if you spot any call us on 1300 30 40 54) and some people could have dodgy chargers at home or work without realising. This picture should help you identify a dangerous charger. Check out the plug pins. The ones on the left have no insulation - that's an unapproved charger. The ones on the right have 50% insulation - that charger meets Australian standards and can be sold legally. See more

18.01.2022 Do you use unit pricing to compare products at the supermarket? CHOICE would like to congratulate consumer campaigner, Ian Jarratt (OAM), who has been recognis...ed with an Australia Day honour for services to the community, particularly to the rights and protection of consumers. Ian has tirelessly fought for unit pricing in Australia to help stop consumers being ripped off when doing their weekly shop. Here's Ian in action on The Checkout: https://youtu.be/D2-xdS-lYSg

17.01.2022 For minor problems with a product or service, the business can choose to give you a free repair instead of a replacement or refund. For a major problem, you have the right to ask for a replacement or refund. http://bit.ly/12JtV3N

08.01.2022 Go Productivity Commission! Definitely putting in a submission to this. There has to be a better way than the expensive, protracted and perplexing minefield that consumers of many of our justice systems currently face.

05.01.2022 Nasty little text message scam to beware of.

03.01.2022 Interested to see if insurers will fill the gap left by the loss of the Travel Compensation Fund - and at what cost to consumers.
