24.01.2022 The Politician Who would get my Vote In the politician who would win my vote Party affiliation, gender, race, religion would all be inconsequential alongside the one great characteristic that matters. It is new, it is revolutionary, it is amazing and it is an ordinary component of everyday life! I would like to hear a politician who admired, acknowledged and valued his or her opposite number. Someone who would say, Joe Bloggs has done a fantastic job given all the conditio...ns, difficulties and pressures that running a country (or a state) entail. My ideal candidate would then go on to open up to me what s/he wants to do differently and the reasons for the choices. The reasons would not be combatative, not voiced as superior to a nut-case but as a sensible argument for a new or different approach to difficult problems, valuing what had been done and recognising that the new approach would rest upon the predecessor’s efforts. My ideal candidate would own that many of the obstacles that government encounters are global and therefore not easily solved by one country alone. The global network and the global issues need to be met with sanity, a sense of confidence, honesty and leadership. Worldwide problems cannot be laid at the door of this or that opposing political party. This is so obvious it shouldn’t even be said but it is usually forgotten in the hostilities that go by the name of political canvassing. Why would I like to have such a candidate, and why would affiliation or gender etc. not matter? Such a person would be a real live grown-up; they would be honest and would value political virtue. This person would have healthy self-esteem which would obviate the need to boost a failing ego by slating everyone else. Many businesses favour integrity in their employees; am I asking for the moon in desiring the same for the business of governing the country? Awareness, consciousness, maturity, is it really too much to ask for in our MP’s? Vote Maturity 1

At these retreats I was encouraged and sometimes challenged but always satisfied." http://www.contemporaryspirituality.com.au/womens-retreats.

14.01.2022 If the churches want to be credible they could try a bit harder to be consistent. In the Gospels the Lord’s teaching on adultery and divorce is unequivocal and direct. There is no record of Him teaching on same sex relationships. On the former issue His words have been over-ruled and put aside; on the latter, equally valid, human concern His silence has been construed not as consent but as a presumed negative prohibition. From the beginning in Christian teaching love has been the controlling virtue and the starting point in any decision making, sadly this is not apparent in the present discussions regarding changes to marriage laws. Fidelity to the teaching, along with a spot of common sense could make a world of difference to the impact the churches want to make.

04.01.2022 This Year for Joy is for those who like to have something useful and intelligent to pick up for a brief read - an excellent bed time book for people interested in spirituality and personal growth. This book will inspire, instruct, challenge, amuse, but most off all delight the reader.
