25.01.2022 Another offering from the Kint Institute, an organization I am proud to be the Executive Director of. Our line-up of virtual offerings this year is extraordina...ry. Please check them out at www.kintinstitute.org. And please join Kat and Mark on December 12 (this weekend) for our next offering. Transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse clients experience significantly high rates of trauma, often due to systemic and cultural biases related to gender conformity. When amplified by the experience of trauma, navigating one’s gender identity in an invalidating, ciscentric world can be destabilizing. The chaos of both experiences colliding can create confusion for both client and therapist. Where do these narratives overlap? Where do they diverge? Through a combination of discussion and experiential learning, participants will navigate how to help clients story their gender narratives and traumatic experiences in order to make meaning and experience integration. 25.01.2022 Sharing an extraordinary program created by two dear friends:
24.01.2022 As I transition from my dance with COVID - which began shortly after my 60th birthday and right on the Day of Gratitude - into holiday season and back to the da...ily rituals of work, grocery shopping, and being a human citizen in the midst of a global pandemic, I have been engaging in a practice I teach in many of my classes. I call it the first noticing, or the awakening moment. It arose naturally from the deep dream states I experienced during COVID's inhabitation of my body. Its simple: I let my attention rest on the very first thing I see when I wake up, and I follow. Follow the movement, the light, the sounds that may emerge, the thoughts that accompany my paying attention to this first noticed thing. I let this be the thread I follow into the first moments of my day. No day begins the same. The human body is a sea change of movement; we are our bodies. We are not fixed, static or defined by titles and labels. We are life unfolding into even greater life. We can take our dreams into our days; thats what possibility is. See more
22.01.2022 This week, I am grateful for the oceans, the lifeblood of our planet. I am grateful for the whales, who I have swum, danced, sung and spiraled with. Their gener...osity and compassion entered every cell of my being. I am grateful for the light, the playfulness, the utter brilliance of dolphins, who seem to offer a reminder to find something to be joyful with. This was written early this year, and a colleague just shared it, so I pass it on. Perhaps this Thanksgiving we might all reflect on our place in the global family of all living things. See more

19.01.2022 Sharing a wonderful video my friend Vanessa Mignon made to pay homage to 2020 and to celebrate and acknowledge our magnificent oceans.
18.01.2022 Sharing a favorite quote from one of my heroes, since childhood. I still remember April 4, 1968; my family and I watching the television, quiet and sitting toge...ther in the heavy sadness of collective loss. I look forward to a day when we don't judge one another, but rather see one another: Acknowledge, witness, recognize. To do this, we need to Listen.
15.01.2022 Sharing another one of our--The Kint Institute's - dynamic virtual offerings. This is going to be a very rich training - please join us on Friday, February 5, 4...-6 PM EST. Adolescence is an exciting time of discovery and daring, as well as paradox. Teens experience superior health and peak immune functioning at the same time that they face heightened mortality due to a roller coaster of emotions, which can manifest in risky behavior, substance abuse, self-harm, sexual experimentation, and careless driving. There is a developmental mismatch that informs these paradoxes, as teen brains are primed to pursue novelty and social reward without having a fully developed braking system. Sensation seeking activities in the context of faulty impulse control can quickly devolve into a tightrope walk between high risk and healthy discovery. 13.01.2022 Sharing another offering from the Kint Instituute. Please join the wonderful Marianne Moskowitz and I on Solstice, 2020: We live equally in the light and in the... dark. Many of us live in contexts which privilege the light, and where darkness is frequently shunned. Just as the tiniest of seeds needs to bed down in the darkness of earth to grow, humans require resting into a fertile, dark void to regenerate, and foster creativity. This two hour virtual ritual will equally honor dark and light through a reflective creative process. This ritual offering is an opportunity for therapists, healers and anyone confronting the suffering of others through their work to gather in a shared liminal space. 2 CEs are available for purchase through R.
