03.01.2022 Mystery bearings on motors are becoming the norm. Even the 'good' brand motors are installing rubbish from the factory. This motors bearings failed within 5 years. No signs of wear to the coupling to the pump. This is a Grundfos labelled motor we replaced the bearings on yesterday. To replace the motor would cost $1200, and the new motor would come with mystery bearings of its own. ... Quality, rubber sealed NSK bearings were installed as replacements, front and back. These will last decades. Insist on quality. When it's not provided, shop elsewhere.

Looking at costs, what might it have cost to have the first two technicians in? * Time unit down, staff complaints: No one wants that * Call out fee, x 2 technicians, maybe more if they send 2 techs per visit Labour charge 2 hours minimum x 2 technicians (for general electricians/technicians who are not specialists and could be apprentices to scope the situation first up) Thats a lot of money down the drain, a lot of staff angst and is a false economy.
