25.01.2022 In view of policy statements by both the Commonwealth and Victorian Governments, and in order to provide certainty to the community, sponsors and the orator, the 2020 Graeme Clark Oration, scheduled for 20 July, will be cancelled. While this is disappointing, not to take this course of action would be to ignore the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic. To everyone who has supported the 2020 oration so far the many members of the public who have already registered to attend, the many schools who were making arrangements to engage with the Orations schools program, and to our generous and committed sponsors we are very grateful for your interest and enthusiasm for the event. We look forward to informing you of the 2021 Graeme Clark Oration details as soon as we can.

22.01.2022 "Driven by her aptitude for maths, Michelle took the path less travelled by most biomedical scientists, electing to take the bioengineering systems pathway throughout her undergraduate. This steered her away from an honours stream, instead leading her to pursue a Master of Biomedical Engineering. Here, Michelle could leverage some of the cell culture knowledge she gained during her time at the Ludwig Institute to drive an industry engineering project with the Bionics Institute on automated processing of histology samples." 22.01.2022 Professor Gina Rippon from the Aston Brain Centre in Birmingham will be presenting our next event on the 10th of March. During this event, Professor Rippon will be exploring how emerging 21st-century research on the human brain (how it works and what it is for) is enabling us to revisit age-old questions and assumptions in the area of sex/gender differences. The talk will focus on the key aspect of the need to challenge past certainties about the existence of sex differences ...in the brain and to pay further attention to the brain-changing characteristics of gendered attitudes and expectations in the outside world. It will also consider the significance these changes could have for understanding continuing gender gaps in ambition and achievement. Please join us for this free event on Tuesday, 10 March 2020 at Monash Biomedical Imaging, Clayton, by registering now: https://bit.ly/37iqtzE

During this study, Kagan became aware biases that exist in science and how seldom people in his field build experiments to prove themselves wrong... This first revealed the pressures of doing academic science to Kagan the pressure to publish and advance without solid scientific foundations."
