23.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone. Let us know what was your greatest research moment for your convict ancestor and where did you find the information.
21.01.2022 David Fitzsimmons to Convict Records: Researching Fitzsimmons convicts tranported to NSW I found two James Fitzsimmons on the Royal Admiral dated 13.5.1833 and two James Fitzsimmons arriving in NSW 19.1.1834 on board the Royal Sovereign. The details of these two sets of James Fitzsimmons were identical. I checked the list of the 157 convicts on the Royal Admiral and it was identical to the first 157 convicts who arrived on the Royal Sovereign. There were 13 other convicts added to the Royal Sovereign. Does anyone have any idea why the change of ship happened? It is not like the Royal Admiral did not sail as it arrived in NSW on 26 October 1833. Do we have a researcher who can provide some answers for David?

17.01.2022 Enquiry from Shay Griffiths: I wonder if anyone can help me. My ancestor, Dennis Vowles born 22 feb. 1808, in Birmingham England. He was arrested and deported to Australia in 1839. He was sent on the Convict ship "Woodbridge". Landed in NSW 1840. I have found a Ticket of Leave record dated 27 December 1843 which states that Dennis VOWLES of ship Woodbridge, Master: DOBSON, Year 1840, tried at Warwick Assizes on 27 March 1839 and sentenced to 10 years has been allowed to remain in the district of Goulburn. My question is, can anyone help me find him after this? All help appreciated.

My name is Ruth Walker and my ancestor was Henry Maroschesky. He was transported in 1815 arriv 1816 Newcastle NSW for a 7 year sentence. He was later convicted of a second offence and taken to Port Macquarie for a life sentence. Could someone please help me. 15.01.2022 Catherine Crocker is looking for her Ancestors -- Is anyone related or do you have information on the Crockers? Catherine Crocker to Convict Records 11 mins Hi everyone! I've just found this FB page which is great! I've been doing Ancestry stuff for a fair while.... I have a 2 x Great-grandfather Charles Munro Crocker born in Tasmania (Van Diemans Land) in 1843 with 7 younger siblings also born there. I believe his father, also named Charles Munro Crocker, was sent as a convict from England to Tasmania (although I think he married Mary in England and had a female child named Maria). There is only one Charles Crocker I can find sent to Tasmania with a brother George Crocker in 1820 aboard the Julianna from Southampton Assizes. I believe this to be Charles Senior. Is there anyone else researching these men, by some miracle? See more
11.01.2022 A very useful free site, if searching for court details for persons convicted at the Old Bailey/Middlesex/CCC London is https://www.oldbaileyonline.org
10.01.2022 Feature ship today is the "Parkfield" 1839 to New South Wales. 240 passengers, 31st Regiment, 6 women and 9 children. No deaths reported. Check on our website to see if you had an ancestor on this sailing https://convictrecords.com.au/ships/parkfield
09.01.2022 Convict transport ship "New Grove" brought 165 female transport passengers, 5 free women and 28 children to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) in 1834/35. The decade of the 1830's appears to have been a period of very strict control. Women were encouraged to marry to establish families and improve the social structure. Whilst the convict women were working or in the Female Factory, most children were sent to the Queens Orphan School/Orphanage - this resource may help you trace what happened to them. (Do not think that the mother's willingly placed them in the Orphanage.) Anyone with an ancestor from this voyage? https://convictrecords.com.au/ships/new-grove
09.01.2022 Michael Beattie to Convict Records: Can anyone help, searching for an ancestor that was appointed as the first judge , and had the first brick house built in Melbourne .
