18.01.2022 The Convict Trail Project is delighted to announce it has received a 2019-2021 NSW Community Heritage Grant to update the brown placename signs we have installed along the Great North Road. This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government.

15.01.2022 One of my favourite fences, this one leads people up the lower section of Devines Hill from the main gate. Not all that old when you look at the Convict road it leads to but still wonderful.

14.01.2022 A group of history buffs from the Kuring-gai Motor Yacht Club recently enjoyed a visit to Devines Hill.

13.01.2022 Bedlam Point Tour Report Sydney was isolated from Newcastle and the Hunter valley to the north till 1836 when a convict built trail was completed linking the two cities. We visited the start of this road at Drummoyne and examined where it headed north across the Parramatta River to Bedlam Point. This tour on May 4th was part of the Australian Heritage Festival and lead by Wesley Warren.

13.01.2022 The Great North Road split at Wollombi with one section heading to Broke and the other to Newcastle. Maitland Gaol has an amazing history and is well worth a visit as you follow the Convict Trail.

11.01.2022 There is a Stockade sight located on Devines Hill that is a must see when you visit. Some wonderful interpretation has been installed to help visitors understand a little more about those who built the road.

11.01.2022 Peter Clark Memorial Tour Report Use of the Great North Road was a dangerous activity in the 1800s due to the constant threat posed by bushrangers. This problem experienced by travellers is typified by the tragic death of Peter Clark. We visited his memorial as part of the Australian Heritage Festival on May 18, 2019. This event was lead by historian and bushranger expert Gregory Powell. He is the author of the book Bushranger Tracks, and an acclaimed historian and expert on Australia’s bushranger past.

08.01.2022 New Project Director Wesley Warren has been appointed by the board of the The Convict Trail Project as the new Project Director. He looks after CTP's online presence and liaises with business and government to maintain and promote the Great North Road.
