10.01.2022 A review of the 16th Sept 2012 FUT5AL tournament, courtesy of Clinton Forde. Thanks mate! Convival Events 5-A-Side Futsal Tournament (16/09/12) @ Kensington Kikoff Soccer Centre by Clinton Forde Sunday 16th September marked another glorious day for the Convival Events camp with it's latest monthly Futsal tournament addition. Complimented by the glorious hot Sydney weather, teams and their supporters turned out to embrace the occasion which definitely didn't disappoint. The da...y got off to a fiery and frantic start where The Breakers showed their finishing prowess in the opening game against H & T Realty A beating them 8-0 in a very one sided game. Other games that caught the eye were contests between The Unexpected and "The Untouchables" which finished 4 - 3 to the latter with a last minute winner whilst Boca Juniors were involved in a heated rough and tumble game against H & T which ended in a 5 - 3 win for the Juniors. As the day went on further, shades of class and endurance began to shine through as Team Lebanon and Joga Bonito defeated opponents to gain access through to the final eight places of this month's competition. Surprise package, Norwind impressed fellow teams and onlookers with their performances with a convincing quarter final victory against The Untouchables winning the game 5 - 0 despite a missed penalty in the opening minutes of the game. From there Norwind went on to narrowly miss out on the finals losing to Joga Bonito 3 - 2 in an intense match up between the two sides. Bring on the final and after dominating last month's competition... Team Lebanon had it all to play for. After a fiery first half between Lebanon and Joga Bonito both teams went into half time during drawing the game 2-2. The second half was even closer as both teams went for it in true "gung ho" fashion given everything they had for the chance to be crowned this month's champions. In the end Team Lebanon won the game in a very intense 5-4 match which also resulted in a one of their players getting sent off towards the end of the game sealing back to back competition wins. Stay tuned folks for the next tournament on the 29th September at Kikoff Kensington soccer centre where another team has the chance to win a cash prize of $1,000 and be crowned Convival Cup winning champions!!! Could it be you?!?

01.01.2022 Convivial Events Fut5al Competition - 29th September 2012 by Clinton Forde. Convivial events second tournament in under a month was well turned out as always. Although weather conditions were cold and windy at times the 16 participating teams made up for it with their fiery passion and high intensity throughout the day's event. Kicking off the day was a close encounter between Carlton FC and Team Champagne in an exciting opening fixture that finished 2-1 to the home team. Nex...t up was a grueling battle between H&T Realty and Idiots Abroad with the Englishman from Idiots abroad dominating H&T from beginning to end in a game that finished in a comfortable 2-0 victory. Last competition's semi finalist Norwind got off to a great start with a convincing 7-1 win against Nameless. After missing out on the finals the Norwind boys showed that they were eager to make up for the semi final woes a fortnight ago. Convival event veterans Real Man and Breakers eased passed their opposition in their group stage matches taking no prisoners in all three of their games to progress into the knockout rounds of the competition. Other stand out games included Dynamite Kiev's emphatic win against Idiots Abroad where the crowd got to witness some fancy finishing and showbiz celebrations from fan's favourite Jay while Team Who? demolished PHC 12-3 with skills and flair play that would make Ronaldinho jealous. From there we move onto the last rounds of cup where both the quarter and semi final matches ended in penalty shootouts for Incredibles. Unfortunately the boys in yellow just didn't have enough to get through to the finals after losing on sudden death penalties to eventual finalists Breakers. Up against the Real Man, things could of been a whole lot different had their goalkeeper not injure his back in the first half after a stunning save from a well executed move by the Breakers with both teams drawing 1-1 at the time. In the end, Breakers ran away with a 3-1 victory to take the crown this time round and reign supreme in an entertaining and thrilling afternoon at Kensington Kikoff Soccer Centre....Congratulations Team Breakers!!! For more information on the next Convivial Futsal tournament as always keep your eyes peeled to their Facebook page or contact organiser James Kera for further updates. See you next time soccer fans!!!
