25.01.2022 Dear Community, Our Club had a Covid-19 health & safety audit this afternoon. The inspectors were very pleased with our safety measures and recommended some further restrictions due to the current high risk of community transmission.... The Board of Directors and GM have reviewed and agreed to the following restrictions for the health and safety of our members and the community; the Sauna and Steam room will be closed immediately. Each Room and Pool Lanes will have a maximum capacity that will be displayed. Swim School Classes will only have one adult being able attend with their child. Physical Distancing is to be adhered to. The impressive stone gateway to Coogee still stands to this very day. Many locals drive down this road through the ghost of the old tram network and past our beautiful Coogee beach. ... Here are the restrictions that you must follow for now, to visit us -... * 100 people at a time in the Fitness Centre (Pool & Gym). * Signing in upon entry. * Social distancing of 1.5m. * Everyone must continue to practise good Hygiene & Cleanliness at all times, for yourself, and the Gym equipment. * Bring your own towel to use. * The Showers, Sauna & Steam Room are to remain closed at this stage, Change Rooms are available though. * No more than 3 people at a time can use the Pool lanes; 5 lanes means that 15 people at a time is the maximum. * The Pool lanes are for Walking and Swimming laps only. * There are no Group Exercise or Swim Classes for now. * No Bookings are required. Staff will be on hand to assist you and answer any questions that you may have. Keep an eye here, and via our email and website, for updates relating to the further lifting of restrictions. Meaning that daytime and nighttime will be about the same length, no matter where you are on the planet When the summer solstice begins in December the nights will get longer. Its an awesome time of year for stargazing too

Government support for veterans doesnt address all of the issues that so many face after leaving the military, in their return to civilian life. Many veterans slip through the cracks and too many lives are lost to suicide. Swiss 8 is a health charity founded by former veterans that use their lived experience to help other veterans address these issues, in a holistic way. You may wonder why theyre called Swiss 8. The Swiss part of their name is inspired by Switzerland, a country famous for being non-discriminatory and unprejudiced. The 8 relates to their eight principles: Fitness, Nutrition, Mindfulness, Sleep, Minimalism, Time Management, Personal Growth, and Discipline. These principles are available as programs in a free app for veterans to incorporate into their daily routines. You can download it via the App Store or Google Play. Since the Covid-19 pandemic theyve opened up the app for free, for everyone. They know all too well the feelings of isolation, uncertainty, anxiety, and depression, and how they affect our mental health. The app is relaunching this week with lots of new content to enjoy, including tasty recipes, healthy meal prep help for the week, and therapeutic challenges to try, such as the cold shock challenge. Welcome to our community hub, Swiss 8.
