20.01.2022 Gut health - the best foods and the worst foods ! This week I am focusing on Gut health with recipes for you to enjoy. If I have learnt anything from having IBS and a Slow transient bowel - it’s the importance of working out your own system .... Yes there are general Principles and commonalities but there are also unique quirks amongst us all. It is true though ,what you eat and drink directly effects your gut bacteria and nutrient absorption how you feel, how healthy you are , what diseases you might develop! Good news it’s never too late to change and I want to help you . 4 tips to implement 1: eat more fibre - helps in so many ways not just constipation but fighting disease- hence why you hear this all the time ! Try Raspberries, beans, legumes ( chickpeas or lentils) 2: add in yogurt- it’s an awesome probiotic - try the no sugar high protein types they are delicious 3:sauerkraut or other fermented foods even kombucha will help your bacteria. 4: increase fruit like Watermelon, bananas and pears . 4 tips to avoid 1: whatever always upsets you - commonly processed foods , white bread and pasta - go whole meal . 2: limit alcohol - not a great friend to gut bacteria 3:Avoid artificial sweetness these can alter your gut bacteria plus they are becoming linked to more health issues. 4: red meat might not be your friend! 09.01.2022 Occasionally I make my own Muesli bars. Mostly I love the convenience and nutrias value of a variety called Chocolate decadence! When I do make bars here is my recipe . As a sweetener I find rice malt syrup the best . ... 3 cups of oats 1 cup rice cereal like rice bubbles 1 cup dried fruit of your choice 1/2 cup nuts like cashews - dry pan fry and chop 1/2 cup flaxseeds 1/4 tsp salt 2/3 cup rice syrup 1/2 cup cashew butter 1/2 cup coconut Oven 180* Line a tray with baking paper Combine all the dry ingredients. Microwave rice malt syrup md chars butter for 30 seconds to make it easier to mix. Mix all Ingredients together. Place in tray and press flat. Cook25 minutes - allow to cool then cut into bars ! 07.01.2022 I’m always looking for a lunchbox treat . Try this on - if it’s for school omit the almonds. Blueberry Muffins ( healthy but still delish) 1 cup whole meal flour 3/4 cup plain flour... 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp bicarbonate Sosa Ground cinnamon 1/3 cup vegetable oil 1/2 cup honey 2 eggs 1 cup plain yoghurt 1 tsp vanilla 1 punnet blueberries Flakes almonds and cinnamon sugar on top . Sift dry ingredients together in one bowl . In another bowl whisk oil , honey and eggs ( microwave honey to soften ) Yoghurt and vanilla. Make a well in the center of the Dey ingredients and fold through wet ingredients. Tip- don’t over mix - just bring it together with minimal lumps .
