02.01.2022 Beatrice Rowles Artist in Focus for September Born and raised in Gippsland, country Victoria, I drew everything from an early age. I loved nature, birds, animals and plants, and loved walking in the bush. Due to circumstances I didn’t have any opportunity to study art until in my fifties when I attended the local TAFE. Here I learned to appreciate many aspects of art. Landscape, portraitissm, still life and abstract. I worked mainly in oils or pastels, but after coming to Cooktown 9 years ago I learned to handle acrylics. My main subjects are local beauty spots and flowers which the area has in abundance.
