24.01.2022 Come share in Coolah’s #history today! Celebrating 100years of the #railway in #coolah, with the launch of End of the Line by Mr Roy Cameron OAM. 10.30am at the Driver Reviver. Everyone welcome.

24.01.2022 ‘End of the Line’, by Mr Roy Cameron, OAM, commemorates the Centenary of the Coolah Railway. He writes that there was no official function to celebrate the opening of the line, possibly due to the Spanish Flu epidemic, which immediately followed World War I. Coolah recorded an estimated ten deaths, even though facial masking was in place, all indoor amusements and outdoor gatherings were prohibited, schools were closed, as were the state borders. In 1920, Coolah welcomed the... train service to the town. It was a momentous advancement for our district to enable people to travel to Sydney or where er they wanted to go. All goods and people travelled in horse-drawn carts and Cobb & Co serviced Coolah from Mudgee. There were only a few cars think Model t Fords or similar. A few families owned large areas of the countryside, and these were share farmed or grazed. Government schemes were initiated to populate the area with more intensive agriculture. Closer settlement schemes and soldier settlement schemes could only be successful if produce could be moved quickly and cost-effectively to markets. See more

13.01.2022 Farmers encouraged to claim drought transport subsidies The NSW Rural Assistance Authority (RAA) is urging farmers to submit their 2019/20 invoices for the NSW Government’s Drought Transport Subsidy by the end of this month. Chief Executive of the RAA, Sean O'Connell said all invoices for the 2019/20 financial year need to be submitted to the RAA by 30 September 2020 in order for payments to be made to eligible primary producers. The RAA is committed to helping farmers rec...over from the worst drought in living memory and we don’t want to see any farmer entitled to a subsidy miss out, Mr O'Connell said. Claiming the transport subsidy is simple and can be done online at the RAA website and I am urging everyone to sit down and do it today. In May, the NSW Government announced an additional $116 million to continue the Drought Transport Subsidy until 31 December 2020, in recognition of the ongoing drought conditions across rural and regional NSW. In addition, from1 July 2020, the Drought Transport Subsidy has been expanded to include transport of purchased stock to a farm business." Farmers who would like help submitting their invoices can contact the Rural Assistance Authority on 1800 678 593, their nearest Local Land Services office or the Rural Financial Counselling Service on 1800 686 175. More than $200 million in transport subsidies has already been paid approximately 13,000 primary producers across NSW. The announcement of a further $310 million in emergency drought relief brings the NSW Government’s total drought support and water security commitment to more than $4 billion.
