18.01.2022 TOTAL FIRE BAN Thursday 17/01/19 Please be aware, A Total Fire Ban has been issued for the Eastern Riverina for tomorrow, 17/01/19. This captures Wagga, Junee, ...Coolamon, Lockhart, Greater Hume and Albury council areas. During a Total Fire Ban, the following rules apply; During a Total Fire Ban you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or to carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire. This includes some types of B-B-Qs. General purpose hot works (such as welding, grinding or gas cutting or any activity that produces a spark or flame) are not to be done in the open. Fire and Rescue NSW and the NSW RFS strongly recommends you reconsider activities such as such using a tractor or slashing, to help reduce the chance of a fire starting on your property. Please stay safe and cool and keep hydrated. Further information can be found on the RFS website here https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/fdr-and-tobans

09.01.2022 Smoke Advisory Heavy smoke is again impacting large areas of regional NSW including the wider Riverina area. Smoke will linger with a likely chance of being q...uite dense in some locations. If you are easily affected by smoke, take precautions to protect your health. Please do not call Triple Zero just to report smoke. Save it for emergencies. If you have asthma or a lung condition, reduce outdoor activities if smoke levels are high and if shortness of breath or coughing develops, take your reliever medicine or seek medical advice. Asthma sufferers need to follow their Asthma Action Plan and take their relieving medication where necessary. If symptoms get worse seek medical advice. Monitor Fires Near Me for information about fires in your area. If you’re driving through a smoky area, slow down, keep your windows up and turn your headlights on.

05.01.2022 Our Firefighters, admin and support staff share important days all year, but ANZAC Day is the day we collectively stop and reflect on the significance of the ev...ents that unfolded 104 years ago. Thousands of miles from home for many thousands of men, some not even 18 years old yet. The loss of life was catastrophic, but it was also here that the Australian’s steeled their resolve to stand proud as an independent nation, working side-by-side with their New Zealand comrades. ANZAC Day is now Australia and New Zealand’s day to remember the collective sacrifices made by men, women and animals who were injured, killed or otherwise affected as a result of wars and conflicts to the present day.

03.01.2022 There’s only two things you’ve got to get done this weekend. Change your clocks, and check your smoke alarms are free of bugs and dust, have new batteries in them, and are functioning correctly. Hold in the test button to ensure you hear the audible warning to be sure. If you find a problem, Fire and Rescue NSW strongly recommends replacing your detector(s) with photoelectric smoke alarms, which should be done by a licensed electrician if they’re hard wired.
