24.01.2022 Our shire is full of hardworking and talented people who like to get in and get the job done. This includes clearing trees that have fallen over roads during strong winds or storms. This can lead NSW SES teams being sent to do jobs that may have already been done by members of the community before a Unit has arrived on the scene. As the combat agency for storms we would prefer you to call us on 132500 and we will handle the job.... However, if you choose to remove the tree/branch before the NSW SES can attend because you have the necessary skills, equipment, and Personal Protective Equipment - please contact us and let us know, so that we can attend other outstanding jobs in our area.

22.01.2022 CHANGES TO RESTRICTIONS FOR PUBS, CLUBS, CAFES AND RESTAURANTS FROM 1 JUNE Please help get the word out by sharing The Premier, Deputy Premier, John Baril...aro, NSW Treasurer, Minister for Health and Minister for Customer Service announced a short time ago that pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants will be able to have up to 50 patrons from 1 June. The Premier stated this change was to help the state bounce back and get people back to work, and to help small businesses, which make up more than 90% of hospitality businesses in NSW. The 50 people rule enables more venues to open up (including clubs in the Cootamundra electorate) with this more viable number of customers, while still adhering to social distancing guidelines. Clubs and pubs with multiple cafes and restaurants can have up to 50 patrons in each - but they must still adhere to the 4 square metre rule. You can go to the pub or the club just for a drink - you don't have to eat. But you do have to sit down to help ensure social distancing. Some things still in place: These venues will need to continue to adhere to the 4 sq metre rule. Smaller venues may not be able to fit 50 people in. You have to be seated at a table - no standing around. Bookings of no more than 10 people. Keep practising good hygiene: wash your hands regularly and stay home if you feel unwell. No dancing just yet - these venues are only open for sit down bookings.

20.01.2022 Don’t worry - all you need is water and a detergent (surfactant) such as a bar of soap, body wash or shampoo. It doesn’t need to be expensive, or antibacterial.... The key to handwashing is to wash often and wash well, for at least 20 seconds. Find the facts about COVID-19 hygiene at: https://preview.nsw.gov.au//how-to-protect-yourself-and-ot

16.01.2022 Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) has issued a visitor policy for all MLHD hospitals to limit visitor numbers. The policy will restrict visitor numbers ...to one visitor per patient at any time. There are currently no confirmed cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in Murrumbidgee Local Health District. To protect the health of our vulnerable and elderly residents, we are appealing to members of the public to stay away from hospitals and aged care facilities if they feel unwell, or have symptoms of cold and flu, explains Executive Director Medical Service Dr Lenert Bruce. We can all play a part in slowing the spread of the virus by reducing contact between people unless absolutely necessary, especially those in our population who may be more vulnerable or susceptible to the illness because of age or weakened immunity. Visitors are also advised not to bring children under 12 years of age to the hospital. The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, sore throat and dry cough. Symptoms will generally appear 3-4 days after exposure to the virus but can be up to 14 days later. Members of the public are advised to minimise travel, increase personal awareness around hand hygiene and practice social distancing. Anyone who believes they have may have contracted the COVID-19 virus (ie: who are returned travellers, or who have come in contact with a confirmed case and are showing symptoms: fever, sore throat, dry cough and shortness of breath) are advised in the first instance to: call HealthDirect 1800 022 222, where a nurse will triage them over the phone and advise as needed or call the Murrumbidgee COVID-19 Hotline 1800 831 099, where patients will be triaged and if testing is warranted, will be booked into an appointment based on location contact your GP to arrange an appointment and let them know in advance if you have symptoms TIPS to reduce potential for transmission of the virus: avoiding crowds and mass gatherings avoiding small gatherings in enclosed spaces keep a distance of 1.5 metres between themselves and other people avoiding shaking hands, hugging, or kissing other people avoiding visiting vulnerable people, such as those in aged care facilities or hospitals. 16.01.2022 Weather Situation: Ex-Tropical Cyclone Esther is approaching New South Wales, deepening a trough over the western inland. Esther is expected to enter north-west... NSW during Wednesday, moving over the south-east of the state on Thursday, intensifying rainfall over parts of inland and south-east NSW as it crosses. HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING may develop across parts of inland and southeast New South Wales later Wednesday and during Thursday. Parts of the Upper Western, Lower Western, Riverina, Lower Central West, Southern Slopes, Snowy Mountains, Southern Tablelands and Australian Capital Territory may be affected. Localised higher totals are likely to be exacerbated by thunderstorms, which are most likely from Wednesday afternoon into Thursday. For areas recently affected by fires, heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslips and debris across the roads. A Flood Watch is also current for the Murrumbidgee, Tumut, Queanbeyan and Bulubula Rivers, with Minor Flooding possible. In addition Flood Warnings are in place for river systems in the Upper Western, resulting from previous rainfall. Conditions are expected to ease by Friday, as Ex-Tropical Cyclone Esther moves away over the Tasman Sea. Locations which may be affected include Canberra, Yass, Wagga Wagga, Albury, Tumbarumba, Griffith, Hay, Narrandera, Tibooburra, Wilcannia, White Cliffs and Ivanhoe. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: * Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. * After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides. * Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires. * For emergency help in floods and storms, ring your local SES Unit on 132 500. The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 pm AEDT Tuesday.

HEAVY RAIN, LOCALLY DAMAGING WINDS FOR INLAND AND SOUTHEAST NEW SOUTH WALES Plan Image Weather Situation: The remnants of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Esther, currently near the Queensland/New South Wales border, is feeding tropical moisture into New South Wales and generating widespread rain across much of the state. HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is possible across parts of inland and southeast New South Wales today. For areas recently affected by fires, heavy rainfall also increases the potential for landslips and debris across roads. In addition, locally DAMAGING WIND gusts in excess of 90 km/h are possible today about eastern parts of the Upper Western, and adjacent areas of the North West and Central West Slopes and Plains. These gusts are most likely with thunderstorms. Conditions are expected to gradually clear from the west through today. 12.01.2022 As of 8.00 pm on 25 March 2020 There have been a further three cases of COVID-19 identified in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) taking the total n...umber of positive COVID-19 results to 13. COVID-19 in MLHD Number of people tested for COVID-19 in MLHD 1,110 Total Confirmed cases in MLHD 13 COVID-19 in MLHD by Local Government Areas (LGA) Albury City LGA 4 Cootamundra-Gundagai LGA 1 Griffith City LGA 1 Federation LGA 2 Wagga Wagga City LGA 3 Greater Hume 2 Total 13 The new cases of COVID-19 located in Wagga Wagga and Greater Hume LGAs were confirmed yesterday afternoon. All cases notified were diagnosed after travelling overseas or being in contact with a confirmed case. All patients have experienced mild to moderate symptoms and are in self-isolation to ensure they do not transmit the virus. They are being managed at home with the support of their GP and a daily check up with local health services. When notified of a positive test result for COVID-19 the MLHD Public Health Unit commences a process called contact tracing. Contact tracing involves interviewing the person who has tested positive for COVID-19 to determine their movements while they were infectious and identify close contacts. A close contact is someone who has been face-to-face for at least 15 minutes, or been in the same closed space for at least 2 hours, as someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 when that person was infectious. Where individuals are identified as close contacts, the Public Health Unit tells these contacts they must isolate themselves for 14 days after they were last in contact with the case. A daily check-up process is set up for these people to monitor their health. This is done via an SMS process. If not all contacts can be identified after a person has spent time in a particular location an alert would be issued to warn people who may have been in that location at the same time as the case. The time between when a person is exposed to the virus and when symptoms first appear is typically 5 to 6 days, although may range from 2 to 14 days. For this reason people who are identified as close contacts are asked to self-isolate for 14 days. MLHD Advises: The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, sore throat and dry cough. Symptoms will generally appear 3-4 days after exposure to the virus but can be up to 14 days later. Members of the public are advised to minimise travel, increase personal awareness around hand hygiene and practice social distancing. If your symptoms become severe and you have shortness of breath, call head to your nearest Emergency Department. A positive test result (confirmed case) MLHD is well prepared to care for people who may be diagnosed with COVID-19. People with mild to moderate symptoms can be managed at home with the support of their GP and Murrumbidgee Local Health District’s virtual health services. 04.01.2022 Novel coronavirus (COVID-19): There is no need to bulk-buy products at supermarkets including toilet paper, paracetamol and canned food. It is practical for ho...useholds to have a small stock of non-perishable groceries to cover the event that in the coming months the household has been asked to self-isolate for 14 days. However, it’s important to note the role of family and friends in supporting those in isolation and also to note that online grocery delivery services are now available in most areas of NSW. The best way to protect yourself is the same as you would against any respiratory infection. Practice good hygiene by: - cleaning your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub - covering your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing with tissue or a flexed elbow - avoiding close contact with anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms. - making sure you stay home if you are sick. 01.01.2022 With Coronavirus in the headlines at the moment, there is a lot of confusion about what to do. The present advice that we have received is: - Ensure that you practice good hand hygiene.... - If you develop symptoms, wear a mask as a precaution and seek the advice of your GP. - NSW Health is the primary agency for this situation in NSW, closely assisted by NSW Ambulance, so pay attention to the advice given by these agencies in the coming weeks.
