25.01.2022 In My Blood It Runs documentary is a documentary following 10-yr-old Arrernte/Garrwa Aboriginal boy Dujuan as he grows up in Alice Springs. Dujuan is a child-healer, a good hunter and speaks three languages. As he shares his wisdom of history and the complex world around him we see his spark and intelligence. Yet Dujuan is ‘failing’ in school and facing increasing scrutiny from welfare and the police. As he travels perilously close to incarceration, his family fight to give h...im a strong Arrernte education alongside his western education lest he becomes another statistic. We’ve designed a suite of Year 9 & 10 English lessons in partnership with the filmmakers and a mixed First Nations and non-First Nations advisory team to help teachers and students meaningfully engage with the film. We recommend the professional learning resources offered by the Stronger Smarter Institute and Narragunnawali. Find out more here https://www.coolaustralia.org/in-my-blood-it-runs/ *Advisory team is made up of partner organisations of In My Blood it Runs Narragunnawali: Reconciliation in Education, Reconciliation Australia, National Indigenous Youth Education Coalition and the Australian Human Rights Commission.
