24.01.2022 What a special opportunity to cook local food with GULP NT and Sevan, the owner of De la Plage in their cafe kitchen as she shares her story and connection with food. Learn to make Dolmades using her family recipe, the traditional way with locally grown grape leaves and the tropical fusion version with local pumpkin and betel leaves. Ticket includes iced tea and sharing a meal together. Local food cooking workshops have been selling out very quickly, so don't miss out!
24.01.2022 Thanks to Andrew and Helen for opening their home this morning out in Darwin River. All visitors were truly inspired by the #passivedesign principles used in the home. We stood inside at 10am for roughly an hour without fans or AC, comfortable in the breeze. #coolmob #ecnt #darwin #ntaustralia #energyefficiency #solarpv #designforclimate #shd2020
23.01.2022 This weekend we wrap up the final events associated with our @sustainablehouseday program. We’ve still got a few more tickets left to the award winning passively designed #wavertree open house in Darwin River with a tour by owner Andrew on Saturday morning. Then on Sunday at sunset we’re taking over the Louvred Lounge at @nationaltrustnt for a debate on the future of NT architecture as the climate warms and there is pressure to move away from the tropical louvred aesthetic...... Hear from the planning commissioner, architects and energy efficiency & building design experts. Energy efficiency is so important when building, renovating or choosing a rental home as it significantly reduces power bills, increases your comfort and saves greenhouse gas emissions. Come along to these events to learn more about what you can do and what we can do as a community in demanding higher minimum energy efficiency standards from the NT Gov. Tickets on our website. #coolmob #ecnt #darwin #ntaustralia #welovedarwin #abcdarwin #ntnews #nationaltrustnt #energyefficiency #passivedeisgn #tropicaldesign #shd2020 #architecture #designforclimate
23.01.2022 A big congratulations to GULP NT on taking out the award last night at the 2020 Territory NRM conference for the Resilient and Sustainable Enterprise Award!! GULP NT were nominated for the unique roll they plan in the Top End in bringing the community together to celebrate story and local tropical foods, whilst encouraging and educating to grow and eat local! COOLmob had a fantastic year collaborating with GULP NT for the #topendlocalfoodchallenge, and we’d like to thank all those who got involved, the volunteers and organisations who support GULP NT. It’s a grassroots group, and without everyone’s input it wouldn’t be here #coolmob #ecnt #gulpnt #tnrm2020 #localfood #darwin #ntaustralia
19.01.2022 What a fun morning! COOLmob went out to O'Loughlin Catholic College to teach the sustainability student group all about reducing your #carbonfootprint as an individual, how to calculate an estimated footprint and how trees can help offset emissions. We then planted 10 native trees together... Take a look at everyone hard at work in that #buildup heat! You all did such an amazing job! #coolmob #ecnt #darwin #ntaustralia #treeplanting #nativetrees #carbonoffsets #carbonfootprint #sustainability #sustainabilityeducation

11.01.2022 2020 taught us about food and what it means to us. The way we eat in Australia relies on global, not local, systems. A positive longer-term shift for our food culture may come with the current trend to relocate to regional and rural areas - where it is easier to grow your own food. Did your eating and shopping for food habits change for the better in 2020?! ... https://theconversation.com/food-in-good-times-and-bad-what
07.01.2022 Still a few tickets for the coconut workshop this weekend at Lakeside Drive Community Garden!
05.01.2022 School is almost back for 2021 and we’re still looking for a few more schools to take part in our #nativetreeplanting and #carbonfootprint program. Does your child’s school want to be involved? Check out #coolcommunities on our website for more info or email us at [email protected]. 03.01.2022 It’s #AustralianPollinatorWeek and to learn more about these fascinating creatures, last night we had lots of fun with Barry Conde who gave a talk and demonstration on native bees, the basics to get you started, the different types in Darwin, which plants they like to forage, how to get a beehive going, plus some troubleshooting. Thanks Barry for sharing your knowledge! Plus we got to taste some honey #coolmob #nativebees #cityofdarwin #environmentcentrent #foragingbees #permaculture #gardeningaustralia #darwin #ntaustralia #abcdarwin
02.01.2022 Take a read this rainy Friday of our February Turtle Times... Lots of updates, events, project updates & more! https://www.ecnt.org.au/turtle_times_february_2021
02.01.2022 Last night we held a debate with the @nationaltrustnt on the future of tropical architecture in the Top End... Long Live the Louvres? What an inspiring event hearing from the panel Sandra Howlin, Simon Scally, David Ritchie, Nick Kirlew and Michael Wells. Seems like architects, the Planning Commissioner, building and energy efficiency design experts and holistic planning advocates all agree that increased energy efficiency in our homes and buildings is paramount to achieving ...liveability in our climate. So yes, bring the louvres back into fashion but make them fully sealable to allow for breeze capture, cross ventilation but also to allow for a room to be air conditioned on hotter days, especially as we will see more days over 35 degrees as the years go on. #coolmob #ecnt #nationaltrustnt #darwinevents #abcdarwin #burnetthouse #audithouse #ntdarwin #darwin #energyefficiency #passivedesign #tropicalarchitecture
