15.01.2022 Australian rats are on the rise! We have already experienced a rise in calls. Rats don’t isolate. Rats are coming out of hiding as Covid-19 is eliminating their food source.

12.01.2022 Covid-19 update - Termites, Rats, Ants, Cockroaches and Spiders will not go into isolation. Pest Control is essential during Covid-19. Coolum Pest Control is currently trading as normal and as has always been the case our clients and staff’s health and safety is our utmost priority. For this reason, we have implemented several extra control measures during this period. As professionals who deal with pests and pesticides on a daily basis, sanitation and prevention of contamina...tion is second nature to us. However, we do understand many people will still have concerns and/or financial restraints, and therefore we are also offering external only treatments if preferred. Finally, if we have sent you a friendly reminder for your pest control and we don’t hear from you, we hope you don’t mind if we contact you again in a few months as we understand that most people are deferring their treatments until normality returns. 10.01.2022 Can anyone else here relate? As funny as this is we have a lot of customers that would legitimately have this response!

10.01.2022 At Coolum Pest Control we are always looking for ways to add more value to our service. And as pest controllers we are always investigating areas of your house that are typically out of sight out of mind. So we tend to see a lot of other potential problems which aren’t necessarily pest related. So rest assured if we notice anything we will be sure to let you know. This mornings job was just a rodent proofing assessment, but I noticed that the rubber flanges around the breather pipes had let go, which is a common problem and could allow rain to find its way into the ceiling, and the solar hot water panels were covered in moss and lichen which obviously wouldn’t be performing to their optimum! A few quick photos to show my client and once again another very appreciative customer!

06.01.2022 How cool is this! They say a picture can say a thousand words, but in this case it tells a whole story! A client thought she had termites, so she was very relieved but yet fascinated when I managed to remove this mud wasp nest in one piece and turn it around to show all the different stages of development from egg -larva-pupa-adult! Most times I remove them they are normally long gone but in this case I timed it perfectly ( maybe not for the wasp) Mud wasps aren’t really a pest, in fact they are natural pest controllers themselves by predating on spiders and caterpillars And being a solitary wasp they lack that defensive behaviour normally associated with social paperwasps.

03.01.2022 Please watch! I have met some great building inspectors, however it is hard to be an expert in two vastly different fields. Always insist on getting both a building inspector and a timber pest inspector. Two pairs of eyes and two heads are always going to be better than one. And a full time timber pest technician is inspecting and treating termites everyday, so we constantly see where and how they enter your home. It just isn’t worth saving a couple of hundred dollars on your biggest investment!
