24.01.2022 Thank you to all those graduating children who came to our end of year disco tonight. What great dancers there were with children showing off their super dance moves. Even the Teachers had a spin on the dance floor! We will all sleep well tonight. We all had a great time

24.01.2022 Last nights rain bought a surprise visitor to the deck this morning. Liesel and Mum placed him safely into our garden where we can watch him. He blends in very well in the garden

23.01.2022 We would like to say a very big thank you to some very generous members of our preschool community, who through their kind donation we have been able to join the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program for Early Childhood Services. We would also like to acknowledge Mitre 10 Cooma for our gift voucher so we could set up our garden beds with all the goodies to keep them healthy and watered long term. The Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program, will support us to provide... a whole-service, play-based approach to delivering pleasurable food education to our pre-schoolers. Pleasurable food education is a fun, hands-on approach to teaching children about fresh, seasonal, delicious food so they can form positive food habits for life. We plan to have lots of seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs in our garden that we can then use to cook with and share with our preschool community. We are really looking forward to being members of this wonderful Kitchen Garden community. See more

23.01.2022 This morning children were very engaged in creating people for our dolls house play, we have incorporated an Indigenous perspective into our experience as children weaved and wrapped the wool around sticks we collected together outside, re-using natural materials.

21.01.2022 This morning we created a Teepee/Humpy from all the sticks that fell down from the high winds. Children worked together to collect the fallen branches and today we created this awesome play space, later adding a small campfire with rocks and twigs, from the land incorporating an Indigenous perspective into our play.

18.01.2022 During Term 3 the children at Cooma North Preschool have been doing our Acknowledgement to Country each morning with the addition of some Auslan signs. Following on from this we have watched an Auslan story time presentation by Maree and Robyn of the story Handa’s Surprise which was hosted by Wollondilly Library and have also learnt many animal signs in Auslan. Over the weekend Ayla has been exploring the alphabet signs with her family at home and have learnt to finger spell her’s and her siblings names. #lovesharedlearningexplorations

16.01.2022 This morning we watched this live Facebook reading of Handa’s Surprise in Auslan. The children have been learning some Auslan with Angela & Tracy this term.

13.01.2022 Such thoughtful gifts which are so appreciated by us all

13.01.2022 After reading The Spotty Dotty Lady by Josie Boyle the children talked about what sort of things we could paint spots on & how they could display them in the Preschool. We gathered only enough rocks that we need and the children are painting them. These will then be placed back into the land as part of our new garden area when the building extension is completed. Two of our team visited Biripi & Worimi Artist, Pauline Coxon’s Art Gallery a couple of years ago when she had a gallery in Berridale, and she taught us her dot painting technique so we could share it with our preschool children.

04.01.2022 Getting ready for Preschool Graduation

03.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who came to our Preschool graduation this evening. The children were amazing and we are so proud of them. I’ve had a few questions about posting photos on social media - you may, of course post any photos of your own children. If you have taken friends photos it might just be a good idea to check with their families if you can post them due to privacy reasons. We look forward to seeing all those great photos with the graduation selfie frame

03.01.2022 We are very excited to be commencing our long awaited building extension, and are really looking forward to what 2021 will bring. A big thank you to Bronnie Taylor and John Barilaro for their on going support and calling in yesterday to help us turn the first sod of soil with our builder Aaron from Aaron Dibley Constructions.

03.01.2022 After learning a lot about emus over the last term today we decided to learn about Brolgas. We read ‘ Olga the Brolga’ by Rod Clement, watched some Brolgas dancing, followed by some traditional Aboriginal Brolga dancing and we also attempted some Brolga dancing ourselves. Did you know that the name Brolga is taken from the Aboriginal language Gamilaraay, in which they are called, burralga.

03.01.2022 Last Wednesday Kylie, Narelle and Nina joined in a walk on Ngunnawal Country during NAIDOC Week. We learned so much about Ngunnawal history and culture. Thank you to the organisers and knowledge sharers.

03.01.2022 Today children were really engaged in making more Story Time Bags, we have been creating these using beautiful indigenous fabrics which the children have helped sew together to form a bag on our sewing machine, While sewing we have been discussing which story’s to create, capturing the children’s voices, we will be moving on to creating our story rocks which will be going inside our bags that the children can use.

02.01.2022 The Preschool children have been so lucky to be able to access Cooma North Public School Canteen all year for lunch orders.
