22.01.2022 On Thursday KF and K/1B celebrated being 100 days smarter. They dressed up as 100 year olds and enjoyed some different activities. This year has been particularly tough for kindy, as their first year of formal schooling has had many interruptions and changes. We cant even sing at the moment!!!... Having something exciting to look forward to and celebrate ensured that their enthusiasm for learning has continued. We reflected on where we were 100 days ago and where we might be in another 100! Despite all this year has thrown us, Cooma North continue to be resilient learners who strive for the highest.

12.01.2022 HAVE YOU SEEN OUR PENCILS? Last week we launched our revised Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) program. The PBL Team have spent many long hours working with all staff to develop the new matrices which outline behavioural expectations in all areas of our school from transitions to going to the toilet, classrooms to the playground, lining up at the canteen and using the library. These behavioural expectations were developed around each of the five core values of Respect, ...Responsible, Resilient, Safe and Active Learning. Each day our students work towards achieving each of these values. As part of reminding everyone of our core values we purchased huge metal pencils designed with these values to be placed at entrances to our school. Unfortunately and much to our bitter disappointment, some irresponsible people in our community decided to remove two of these pencils last week. These pencils are pretty hard to miss as they are approximately 1.8m in height one is light blue with the word RESPONSIBLE and the other is yellow with the word SAFE. If you have any information that will lead to their return, please contact the school or Cooma Police. We hope our pencils can be returned and all members of our school community can once again see our core values. Regards Jo and Staff See more

10.01.2022 One of our year 1 students wrote this at home to bring it in for show and tell. To be honest, it hits us right in the feels (Miss Rendoth nearly teared up when he read it in class). It is a very good school" Its always lovely to hear positivity like this from our students. ... ~ Comment below why you like Cooma North Public ~

We thank all of our SASS staff for the valuable work they perform and their contribution to supporting great teaching and learning outcomes in our school. Thank you for all you do, the little things and the BIG things. You help us not only in the office, the classroom and the playground but everywhere you appear. To make a difference in someones life, you dont have to be brilliant, rich, beautiful or perfect. You just have to care. We thank you for all your care, dedication and hard work. You are our heroes...

05.01.2022 Distressing TikTok Content Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members, This week is National Child Protection Week and focuses on cyberbullying and the inappropriate use of many apps/games children are exposed to. As you may already be aware, there are distressing reports of a video of a suicide circulating on social media, in particular, through the popular platform TikTok. 05.01.2022 Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members Covid-19 restrictions are still playing a big part of our school operations. Each week we receive numerous updates regarding procedures to minimise the risks of Covid transmission. During the past week it has been disappointing to see that some people have been disregarding our requests to maintain social distancing when picking up and dropping off their children to school. PLEASE drop your children off at the entrances to the schoo...l and pick them up from these points unless other arrangements have been made (eg for Kindergarten parents/new students). Parents/carers should not be on school grounds or at school events without the principals permission. If it is necessary to visit the school, all visitors to the school, in addition to signing in at the front office, are required to complete an additional form declaring they are not ill and providing details in the event contact tracing is required. The past few weeks have been bitterly cold and sadly many students have taken advantage of this to wear non-uniform to school. The wearing of school uniform reinforces in students a pride in their own appearance, instils recognition of themselves as an integral part of the school community and assists in developing pride in representing our school. We expect students to wear the uniform during school hours, while travelling to and from school, and when engaged in school activities out of school hours. Earlier this year the P&C sent out o survey via Facebook, Class Dojo and School Enews about changes to the school uniform. The school uniform basic colours are red and black (previously grey). The grey is being replaced with black and will be phased in over the next 12 months. Uniform Combinations Winter - Red jumper or polar fleece Black tracksuit pants/trousers (boys) Black tracksuit pants/ trousers or skirt (girls) Red shirt (with collar) or red skivvy School hat, bucket cap or wide brimmed hat (available at office) $10 Grey socks (boys) Grey socks or stockings (girls) Black leather shoes/ Joggers (Sports shoes) Summer - Red shirts with collars Black shorts (boys/girls) or skirts (girls) Girls also have the option to wear a school dress School hat -bucket, or wide brimmed hat (available at office) $10 Thank you for your continued support Jo and Staff
