25.01.2022 Another speedy Coomera parkrunner profile this week. Tom says he parkruns because it's what got him into running in the first place! He says he loves testing his fitness in a supportive group environment and catching up with the regular crew.

25.01.2022 UPDATE - Position has been filled. Thank you Amy. HELP We need a *photographer* for this weekend's event (Saturday 28 November). Point-and-Click camera and subjects supplied. Who can fill this spot?

24.01.2022 Following today's QLD Government COVID-19 lockdown announcement for Greater Brisbane, please be advised that parkrun Head Office have cancelled all events in the Greater Brisbane area. After careful consideration this afternoon, the Coomera parkrun event team has also elected to cancel the event tomorrow. Being at the northern end of the Gold Coast, many of our volunteers live in, or have visited, the Greater Brisbane Area since 2 January. Gainsborough Greens and Tamborine Mountain have done likewise, and for the same reasons. We apologise for the short notice, but would like to ensure that we play our part and ensure that any risk is managed.

24.01.2022 The latest Covid update

23.01.2022 It's almost one week since the announcement that we'd all been waiting for - the news that parkrun will be reopening its Queensland events on Saturday 28 November. The Coomera parkrun team was blown away with all the emails, Facebook messages and comments received. In less than 24 hours after the announcement, ALL volunteer slots for 28/11 were filled (without even asking!). What an awesome community you are It would be good if we can start filling up some of the December ...slots too. If you'd like to volunteer for any of the events in December, please let us know which date and preferred role. Comment below, send a message to our page or email [email protected]. We will have some important COVID-related information to share with you over the next two weeks before we return, so please stay tuned to this page, as well as emails and posts from parkrun Australia. Only 16 sleeps to go. Whatever you do on 28/11, Don't Forget Your Barcode! #DFYB #loveparkrun #notallheroeswearcapes

12.01.2022 Start up day is nearly upon us. One of the conditions of parkrun returning to Queensland was that each event had to display its own QR code for contact tracing purposes. The code will be displayed at the event on Saturday and we are encouraging all participants and volunteers to use it to sign in, either before or during the event.

11.01.2022 Not long until we can all be together again! However when we are our event will look slightly different. Here are some new parkrun requirements

10.01.2022 Next in line to be profiled is Michelle. Michelle says she parkruns because she loves seeing all the friendly parkrunners with their positive encouragement and happy faces.

09.01.2022 Ladies and Gentlemen, looking forward to seeing you on November 28

07.01.2022 *** We trust that you have all received an email from parkrun Australia over the past 24 hours, containing important information about QLD's return to parkrun. **** In short: (1) parkrun events will display a QR code for contract tracing - at the event, on our website and on social media. Please do check in before/on arrival (or when you finish/return home) (2) parkrun has developed a COVID-19 Framework. Two short, simple, one-page posters have been prepared - a "Walker and R...unner Code" and a "Volunteer Code" with the key points (see email for these posters) (3) Please stay home if you are unwell or have COVID symptoms, have travelled overseas or to a hotspot in the previous 14 days, or have been in close contact with a known active case Please DO READ THE EMAIL from parkrun Australia for the full details. We are looking forwarding to seeing everybody again next week.

05.01.2022 When you return to parkrun things might look a little different. Under our COVID-19 Framework we're asking you to... Stay home if unwell Distance yo...urself where possible Show your barcode to scanner from a distance This will help keep our our events safe

05.01.2022 Good morning parkrunners, here’s an excellent excerpt from HQ on the progress they are making to help get parkrun back to us. Queensland Health currently requires phone numbers to be collected for all participants and spectators to assist with contact tracing. This is not a straightforward process for three main reasons. Firstly, between March 2019 and March 2020 when our events closed, 95,000 different people walked or ran at the 107 Queensland parkruns while 15,000 people... volunteered. 65,000 of these people had registered with parkrun prior to March 2019, which gives an idea of the volume of people who are signed up with parkrun who would need to be contacted retrospectively. Consequently, for parkrun to obtain phone numbers for all existing participants in Queensland alone, we would need to contact more than 100,000 people to ask them to log into their parkrun account and update their details, while also asking new registrants to do the same. Secondly, if we did attempt to request this level of data, it is not clear what percentage of phone numbers we would need to collect to be compliant with Queensland Health’s requirements. Finally, as borders begin to reopen, we must also consider there will be people taking part in Queensland parkruns who are from interstate and therefore we would not have their contact telephone number. As a reference, Queensland Health has previously requested assistance with contact tracing following a measles outbreak near one of our events in 2019. We were able to comply with this request quickly and accurately using the contact information of participants that was available to us. We are continuing to work with the Sport and Recreation Department, and the Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young, to determine a practical solution. See more

05.01.2022 Can't wait to see you all soon when we return on 28 November (3 weeks). In the meantime, here's some important information from parkrun Australia.

05.01.2022 Tomorrow would have been our 8th anniversary run. Whilst we can’t all be together, we’d like to see all our coomera family faces. This weekend it’d be great to see all Coomera parkrunners run a (not) parkrun and post a picture with their favourite parkrun shirt on. You can walk, jog, or run your 5k anywhere you like (providing it is safe to do so). It doesn’t matter where your 5k is. To ensure we maintain safe social distancing we’d prefer parkrunners don’t run at Coomera on... the parkrun course at parkrun time. Thank you all for the wonderful 8 years and we look forward to seeing all again! Gavin, Chris, Ben, Julie, Dave, Megan & Belinda See more
