23.01.2022 Greetings! Blessings to all of you today! I find it quite fitting that the original theme for this week’s service is ‘Guests at the Banquet’. When planning out the year in January, I don’t think any of us could comprehend a year like we have had so far. I made comment to Allan after the services last week that it was so good just to share around the table with our church family. To me, it didn’t matter that we had strict rules to follow or had to gather outdoors. The feeling of immense gratitude that we could share at Jesus’ table again as a community stayed with me. I continue to look forward to the day when we can all be together again. Peace be with you, Cathie.

22.01.2022 Prayer in the time of Coronavirus from the Moderator: God of love, God of grace, God of surprises, We are grateful for the moments of love and community we share. We know you are with us. We know the promise we have in you. Yet we live with our hurt in the present and uncertainty in the time ahead, and wonder what the future holds for us and our communities. We pour out our hearts and souls to you and pray: for your world, your peoples and all who inhabit the face of the ea...rth; for those who are grieving for loss of loved ones, for those who fear for their safety, for those who feel most isolated and alone; for those who give of themselves to support others: health care workers, cleaners, teachers, truck drivers and delivery personnel, pharmacists, grocery sales assistants, phone counsellors, personal care assistants, those who prepare meals for emergency food relief bring your comfort, hope, strength, and healing love. We pray for our communities of faith, that we may be beacons of hopefulness, of promise, of peace with each other, and of inclusive love for neighbour. We pray in the hope we know in Jesus, in whom we see and know the fullness of the grace and love of God. Amen. Denise Liersch, Moderator, Synod of VicTas 14 May 2020

21.01.2022 Advent Bible Study Series In the Gift of the Nutcracker, Matt Rawle takes a look at this Christmas classic in a new waythrough the lens of faith. The Nutcracker was first performed in 1892, and quickly became a holiday tradition, one that continues for many families to this day in many countries across the world. In this four-week Advent study, Rawle uses the iconic tale to help us understand God’s greatest gift of the Christ child and of the kingdom Christ came to build. 20.01.2022 A prayer for today...... May your love and light shine in and through me today In a way that no mask can hide.... May my eyes dance with the laughter and joy Replacing my hidden smile. May my actions of care and concern Speak louder than my muffled voice ever could. And may the generosity of my heart Radiate out through who I am And how I respond to the world around me So that others may not see my mask But your image shining out Moving in and through me today. Amen Br Michael Herry FMS

18.01.2022 An act of Remembrance and Prayer Let us pray for all who suffer as a result of conflict, and ask that God may give us peace: for the servicemen and women who have died in the violence of war, each one remembered by and known to God;... May God give peace, God give peace for those who love them in death as in life, offering the distress of our grief and the sadness of our loss; May God give peace, God give peace for all members of the armed forces who are in danger this day, remembering family, friends and all who pray for their safe return; May God give peace, God give peace for civilian women, children and men whose lives are disfigured by war or terror, calling to mind in penitence the anger and hatreds of humanity; May God give peace, God give peace for peace-makers and peace-keepers, who seek to keep this world secure and free; May God give peace, God give peace for all Defence Force chaplains offering support, encouragement, acceptance, compassion and understanding wherever and whenever it is needed; May God give peace, God give peace for all who bear the burden and privilege of leadership, political, military and religious; asking for gifts of wisdom and resolve in the search for reconciliation and peace. May God give peace, God give peace O God of truth and justice, we hold before you those whose memory we cherish, and those whose names we will never know. Help us to lift our eyes above the torment of this broken world, and grant us the grace to pray for those who wish us harm. As we honour the past, may we put our faith in your future; for you are the source of life and hope, now and for ever. Amen. https://www.assembly.uca.org.au//Remembrance_Day_resources

11.01.2022 Today is national prayer day in the US. When I hear the continuing horrors of what is happening in the US, how many are dying each day. I think I wish there was something I can do and there is. I can pray more. It is as simple and profound as that. Attached is an article from Phillip Yancey that I found inspiring tonight. https://www.faithgateway.com/ask-seek-knock/#.XrPoiEBuLIU

01.01.2022 God, walk through our houses today and banish all the worries, take away any illnesses, anxiety, loneliness and sadness. Watch over our family and friends. Bring quiet where there is chaos, bring light where there is darkness and put love in our hearts. Let us always act like Jesus to support all in need, in whatever small way we can, and always be considerate of others. Help us journey through this time in grace and love. Amen.
