04.01.2022 For some reason known only to gremlins in the system, this post was published without any blurb. Twice. Only several completely pointless updates as i was trying to compose the Facebook page. For which my apologies. Also thanks to the kind people who obligingly liked each one. What it was supposed to include was the fact that, after many years we have managed to get Heritage Listing for Cooper Park. While this is only at the local level, it has been referred for State listing... which will give it more secure protection and hopefully, some funding. Please share this around as there are a lot of people out there who I know would like to pitch in but don’t know who to contact. If anyone would like to join the Friends of Cooper Park please email me at [email protected] We will be included in forming the Updated Plan of Management, which will mandate standards for maintenance and infrastructure in the park. It’s too precious to leave it to Council without significant contributions from the community who use it and love it. You don’t have to be local - we have members from all over Australia, including botanists, environmentalists, archaeologists, landscape designers and heritage architects. So please spread it around.
