25.01.2022 Little snipper given to me from Brett Vick, spent a couple hours cleaning and replacing some parts had it purring again to do my yard, I have a few old snippers here but chose to fix this one cause it's light and easy to use, thanks Brett.

23.01.2022 What not to do when building an engine. Do not press piston pins into rods using a normal flat press, end result is this ring lands breaking off, or worse yet have seen piston top lift off and destroy motor, engine builder unknown let's say he had half an idea but only half, this engine was still running but you can see the wear and stains in the break it was like this for some time but must have been burning some oil or had excessive blow by.

20.01.2022 2 weeks ago mate Paul needed a motor for his speedway car ,so we chucked a new big cam in this vn 5 litre and Paul chucked it in the car hoping for the best,got him through the night but had carby problems, guess who's rebuilding that now

20.01.2022 It's the little things that count, I have an eye for detail but if I wasn't fitting this carb myself I wouldn't have known about this problem and someone else might not have known, so glad I found it first and replaced the faulty screw.

19.01.2022 House call yesterday to look at Marks 302 Cleveland powered land cruiser, I got it going, pointed out some issues to be fixed, then removed the carby for a rebuild and a new set of plugs, if that noisey lifter isn't a tappet adjustment, will be replacing lifters, and changing the manifold from a single plane to a dual plane like it should be on a standard motor, see what happens when carby goes back on.

19.01.2022 Current job 74 camaro, 350 chev, 650 spread bore vacume holley rebuild and fuel pump replacement underway with other repairs needed at a later stage, have a look at how close the battery lead is to alternator and radiator hoses too close to fan and engine pulley, just a few things to be fixed, supplied fuel pump must be a cheap Chinese make the pump arm totally wrong which leads to higher fuel pressure, fitting a good quality new unit I have in stock with new fuel lines and clamps. Could hear a noise dropped the fan belt alternator bearings are gone so will be replacing or rebuilding.

19.01.2022 Pulled down Chaiyas Holley 750 double pumper last week for a look off his tough Xw Falcon, as you can see it was in poor condition the secondary wouldn't have been working as everything was blocked. Good news he bought a brand new Holley ultra XP 950 I jetted it down slightly and he says it idles great just waiting to test it more once he fixs another issue, I'm keen to see what this carb does myself.

18.01.2022 Holley 600 vac rebuild for Allan Wessel,for his 308 powered HQ 1 tonner,came around the smorning for some tweaks and checks.

18.01.2022 Repairs and upgrades to Jeremy Mc swans 307 chev ski boat,first removal of old dizzy was siezed solid took some effort to get out,along with old spark plugs rusted in very tight. Removed water pump cleaned flushed cooling system and rebuilt pump. Fully stripped and rebuilt a good quality electronic dizzy I had sitting on the shelf with new module and new coil fitted and wired up. No Chinese brands used here. Checked wiring and found blown fuse cause of gauges not working replaced and all good, so new dizzy fitted and water pump back on and tested made a big difference in how easy it stops and starts now and idles cold and managed to get to idle lower very happy with the outcome.

09.01.2022 Can everyone do me a favour, get on Cairns boys toys there is a post asking who is the best performance mechanic, and smash it with Iron Automotive as the recommended mechanic, as Ryan is my first choice and only Mopar mechanic I will support ,sure I have other mates who are good at what they do but everyone has their specific fields , some are great but not interested that's fair,but due to the constant mistakes coming to myself from other workshops, Ryan is one of only a ...few I will recommend because others keep making me look bad when I recommend and they don't deliver mainly due to their workers not themselves, so Ryan being the owner operator you will get a top job done first time so he comes highly recommended by myself along with others in their fields of expertise, happy Friday and please show your support I know there's lots cause I send a lot of you too him cheers. 05.01.2022 What's going on here? not all Holleys are the same I suspect mismatched parts, I see and hear it all the time " it's all holley" just swap this base and this metering block it won't hurt but it does, I've blocked the base vacume port hole with epoxy I hope this eliminates the vavume leak,another thing to check in future rebuilds

01.01.2022 Fuel pump replacement on the 350 chev 74 camaro, once fitted the new rubber fuel line from hard steel fuel line to the pump as it was before, I realized the rubber fuel line when curling under the steering shaft was touching on the steering coupling. Now I believe it's been like this forever since changed over to Right hand drive, but doesn't mean it's ok, so I took the right angle bend out of the steel line and run a longer rubber fuel line around with less bends cause my OCD wouldn't let me live with how it was when it's part of the main job I'm fixing for now.
